Old Skimmer Lines now Leaking

Had Pool remodeled in 2007, Deep end filled in (8 Ft to 3Ft) New skimmer plumbing to pump
I have no deep drain, only 2 Skimmers that drain to the pump
Now all of a sudden the old discontinued skimmer plumbing line are flowing water.
I can not keep the water level above the skimmers. If i fill the pool, the water, will drain to below the skimmers quickly.
The flow happens anytime the water level reaches the skimmers. The pumps are off
My pool is set higher than my pumps. (Gravity flow to the pumps)

Hard to say what is happening without knowing how the old skimmer line was left by the skimmer. If it was left open underground under the skimmer, then my guess is you have a leak from the skimmer that is flowing into the old pipe. Water follows the path of least resistance and that is flowing through the old pipe.

I called the person who did the pool remodel. He is sending someone out, to investigate

So they capped the old pipe where the water was coming out
I ran water into the pool for 2 hours, and got the water level well above the skimmers
Came back home 4 hours later, water was barely in the skimmers. The capped pipe was not leaking water
Any thoughts? I am at a loss.
Should i have a plumbing guy come and camera the skimmer lines, to find the source of the leak ?

Which end did they cap the old pipe? Under the skimmer or at the pool pad or both?

If your skimmer was leaking into the old pipe it just means the water is not going into the ground around the pipe instead of into the pipe.

They capped the the old pipe by the filter, Under the skimmers. Next plan of action is to look at the skimmers to see if the leak is at the skimmer (boot?)
