About to start soon

Backside of dive rock there will be one step after the patio gets done.

Frontside of dive rock all done

Feature wall almost done. Finishing up on Monday.

Patio is getting poured hopefully next Thursday. Setting the forms as I type.

Gas issue has been resolved. Minor adjustments on my part but overall should be less expensive than any of the other options.

we have water... umm... falling.

Unfortunately, our PB didn’t calculate the water flow required properly so our pump can only run either the waterfalls or the returns, not both. Hopefully he rectifies it. I am not willing to pay more at this point. It’s his fault he should fix it, right?

I guess that would depend on exactly what's in writing and what was discussed. Did you make it absolutely clear to him you wanted to be able to run both?

I honestly don't think you need to run both. At first I was a little disappointed that mine would not do both, however if that flow that you like requires the maximum RPMs of the pump then it could get a little costly to run it a lot And if you are running both at the same it would be very costly. I have had no issues at all simply running one or the other And honestly would never run both together even if I had the option.

I personally think having the fountains "on" withOUT the returns running will make it appear more attractive since the pool is otherwise "still".
With water movement from the returns the splash from the fountain would appear diminished, IMO.

It’s a single speed pump. So it’s always going full bore. And it right now is just enough to give us some flow away from the wall.

We never discussed running both at the same time so nothing is in writing or discussed about it.

it’s already expensive running the pump, but that was kinda expected.

Guess we’ll have to give it some time. We’ll see what the PB says when I talk to him tomorrow.

Hmmmm.. How did we not discuss variable speed pump? They come highly recommended on this site and I have had both and would never go back to a single or dual speed pump. The biggest advantage is you can do low speed skimming during the day for very little cost and your pool surface will always be nice and clean. You also might be able to run your water fall at a lower speed for cost savings as well as sometimes it is nice to slow it down for conversation purposes.

Found the site after contract was signed, unfortunately. A lot of things probably would have been different had I found this site before hand.

I'm curious.... what would you have done differently?

Major ones are 4’ shallow end, Different builder (one who is more organized and communicative. He started off good, but went downhill fast.), and change the roman stair treads (they are very tall steps), more of a shallow end for playing games.

Minor stuff is adding in automation, timer for the lights, although this can all be done later.

overall I’m pretty happy with how it came out but just wish I had found this site first.

The waterfall looks very nice. I hope you have lighting to go with it. We don’t have any so can’t comment on the capacity issue.
There are lights in the waterfall. PB left the boxes outside and a part got wet, and electrician needs to replace it. Once they are up and running. I'll post a pic.
