Is there a preferred time of year to add borates?

Because I am wanting to help stabilize pH a little more with borates, I would think not, but I remember reading a post from someone that mentioned adding borates in the spring and the borate level lasted through fall.

If your pool is open all year then add borates whenever it makes sense for you.

Make sure your TA is at the lower end of the range before you add borates.

Boric acid is the best way to add borates.

What issues are you having with pH control?

Pool is open all year down here in Houston.

Definitely going with Boric Acid (already purchased, just didn't know whether to wait until spring). My pH still tends to drift above 7.8 within a few days even with alkalinity at 70. Just wanting to buffer the pH a little more.

You should try TA at 60 or even 50 before you go to borates.

Also, try to keep the pH at about 7.8 to 7.9 and the CSI between -0.3 and 0.0.

My pH stays around 7.6 with borates.
