Good afternoon to all! I recently purchased Intex's larger inflatable pool which holds around 160 gallons, the link is below. Anyway we have city water and when we clean with bleach inside the water turns a tint brown. I was trying to keep this pool up for a month so I added a single chlorine tablet with a dispenser and overnight the water is now also brown. Due to recent rate hikes in our city with water I was attempting not to have to dump and fill, however with the lack of filter, pump, etc I am thinking this may not work. It seems silly to put this much into a smaller pool but have read others doing so. Just curious if anyone had suggestions or faced similar issues. Btw I have tested the water and the cl and ph is in normal ranges. Thanks!!

Welcome! What you are describing sounds like iron. The chlorine is setting it off. An elevated pH will also cause iron to react as well. You may have a little of both happening. PH is something to watch because many in your area have a very high TA which can allow pH to rise rapidly.

In any case, iron in the water is challenging. Manage teh FC and pH carefully, and consider pre-filtering your water at the end of the hose before it goes into the pool. Best case scenario, have fresh water delivered. Thanks for using the forum.

Thanks for the reply. So after doing some more research about how to filter the water as it comes in, I found several people using a homemade iron filter with polyfil, bucket, etc. I am going to try that method next just to see how that goes. I appreciate your response and I will let you know how it comes out.
