Structures over pool equipment

Hello all, not sure where else to post such a question, but what is everyone’s take on covering pool equipment (sand filter, pumps etc.) from the elements? Jokingly, we have two seasons here in NC, winter with ice and brutal steamy summers. At 6 years old our equipment is showing some effects as we have no shade from trees. Like our pump is looking a little rusty on the outside. Should we be concerned or just let it ride? I’m sure there are some southwest members here that do not cover.

Having a heat pump vs a fossil fuel burning heater makes covering all this so much easier. Covering it is absolutely an option and in my opinion could potential extend the life of components by preventing moisture, uv rays and other debris like leaves. It also makes the area look nicer.

Almost everyone I talk to has tried to steer me away from covering my equipment, most saying it's a waste, as the equipment is "designed to be outside".
I'm not listening to them. Cars are designed to be outside too but one that is garaged will most definitely benefit. I'm looking for idea's at this point.
