Do I have to use a tarp over foam?

We have pretty nice ground underneath with small pebbles and compact dirt after removing all the sod. There are random little roots here and there but the grass is gone. We gave up the idea of sand, gorilla pad and tarp (which was going to help with leveling out the pebbles) and we are going with foam board.

Question 1: Do we still have to have a tarp between the foam and the pool?
We have a double liner (we bought an overlap liner that we installed inside of the pool, making a double wall already) and we're not sure if we have the foam, why we would also need a tarp. At this point, anything we don't need to buy is helpful as pools always seem to cost more than we expect!!

Question 2: If we do need a tarp, does it have to be heavy duty? We bought landscaping fabric to go around the perimiter of the pool where we're going to put river rock, so it seems a bit overkill to have a tarp AND landscape fabric.

You will be fine without the tarp.

No problem without tarp. Ground prep is super important do it right first time

Thank you. My husband worked ahead and got to the pool before I saw these replies and he installed the tarp under the pool. Oh well, won’t hurt anything. ?‍
Now the question is whether or not we roll the tarp back to place the pavers under the legs or attempt to put the pavers on top of the tarp or just cut the tarp back?

The pavers should be dug into the ground so that the top of the paver is level with the ground. You can push the tarp back or cut it. I have one that I cut so it was round like the pool and it was easy to cut.
