Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Hello folks,
After reading much of this thread, we’re pulling the trigger on an s300i tomorrow. We’ve been trying to brainstorm the best way to store the control box. There is no protected area near our pool equipment, which is also where the electrical outlet is. We think we’ll leave the bot in the pool most of the swim season, pulling it out weekly (or as needed) for cleaning. The caddy will be nice for the winter, keeping everything together in the shed. But we need to protect the control box while in use. What kind of handy things have you all rigged for this purpose? We want it off the ground and protected from sun and rain. ? Thanks for any ideas!

I have the exact same question. Margaret told me to put it in some sort of waterproof container, but I don't have any good ideas. My ideal plug is out near the pool in a flower bed...would allow me to avoid the cord laying across high traffic area of decking.

I'd like to keep the control box out there in or near the flower bed and set up my S300 for 3 times per week cleaning.

Anyone have a great solution for this?

I only occasionally leave mine in the pool, but I put a skinny bucket over the controller. But that would get quite hot exposed in the sun and would possibly blow off. I'd suggest something with an open/ventilated bottom and rainproof top.

Okay,

About to pull the trigger on the Doheny's Discovery Powered by Dolphin, I really like the,

And I will purchase it if you all tell me the Discovery works with it.

Thanks

The filter swap in the past has been no cost by Marina.
I use the GFCI outlet I installed on the side of the ET enclosure to power our robot.

mknauss....I was already thinking the Triton or the equivalent was going to be right for my pool. It doesn't look like Marina has some of the prices at this time that others have posted about. Did you say before that Marina offers a 15% discount to TFP members?

Also...it sounds like this filter basket modification is all the rage on this thread. Would you recommend having Marina make that modification. Sounds like it essentially turns the filter basket into a double filter with a rough outer filter and a finer inner filter?

Hi all, I’m purchasing my robot this week or next (finally!), but am back to deciding between S200 & s300. I’m seeing the S300 offers a ‘weekly timer’. I thought the S200 could have a schedule to run each day-or are these mutually exclusive options.

I mainly am leaning toward needing the caddy. My new home has scorpions galore ? (the nasty bark scorpion), and rolling up the cord on the floor even in my garage or in my outdoor storage may risk my safety.

The S300 was the sweet spot for me. The caddy has other benefits as well. The control unit snaps into it at (roughly) waist-level so it's easy to start/re-start cycles, and for people who leave the robot in the pool, the caddy can be moved behind landscaping or out of the way and covered to keep the control unit above the ground and away from rain (there's a 3rd party vinyl cover available but you can simply secure a small tarp to cover the upper part of the caddy with the control panel).

Yes, it's a no-brainer to get the basket modification - they offer it at no charge. It's only done the "worse" way by Maytronics for marketing purposes as one a reason to upgrade.

The Marina discount is for parts and a different discount for all except non-Maytronics cleaners. You can see the details on the Become a TFP Supporter page.
