Advice for New Pool Equipment

I am setting up a 2200 gal AG therapy pool for dogs and was quoted for the following pool equipment, but would like feedback. The pool will be indoors, and I plan to insulate around it and keep it covered when not in use. The water temp will be maintained at 88-93F.

I understand from researching on this forum that I want as large a filter as possible, but not the case for the pump. I'm worried the pump quoted is larger than I need.

C-SPA Electric 11 KW 240V Item # CSPAXI11 (I was quoted for RPR265AEN 266k Btu Nat.gas-Electric Raypak, but I elected for the 11kw heater since I'm leasing the space and trying to make minimal changes. I assumed with the insulation, this would not be terribly inefficient.)

I wouild suggest ditching the Zeo sand replacement product and just using sand. It is ideal for your purposes, cheap, easily washed when necessary and functions great. We've had quite a few Zeo users switch back to sand later and regret the waste of money.

How will you sanitize the pool water? Chlorine? Salt Water Chlorine Generator?

What's the pump?

I'm not sure. I thought Item # S210T93S was the filter and pump (1.5HP).

Will you be using liquid chlorine (or plain, unscented, non-Clorox brand bleach) or are you thinking of some solid or granular form of chlorine. Those solid and granular forms can have a lot of drawbacks. Will you need to drain and refill between dog "patients" or on some other schedule??

I plan to use liquid chlorine. I understand it doesn't cause the pH to fluctuate like dichlor can. I do plan to drain the pool twice a year for deep cleaning. Will that help keep the chloramines down or do I still need UV?

1.5 hp is way overpowered for 2200 gallon, I'm using a 1/2 for my 12,000. Try looking for a 1/2-3/4 or get a 2 speed 1-1/2 using low all the time and high for vacuum. That might be the best option if you get lots of hair or dirt. 2200 gallon is nothing, unless you have water restrictions dumping the water will be easy for you So it does open up using triclor and Cal hypo, but always have bleach for quick acting FC if a dirty dog wipes it out.

Indoor pools are just about the only use for UV systems. Outdoor pools get the benefit of all the free UV they want from the sun. The UV will help burn off chloramines.

Monitoring the water quality with daily testing and visual inspections will clue you in to when you're going to need to change out the water.

My pool guy says his distributor only sells the 20" sand filter with the 1.5HP pump, so I'm trying to buy separately online. I found the one below which seems to be the same filter he was quoting me, but it says it's for inground pools. I read the Q&A's, and it looks like it can be used for AG, but want to check with this group before I purchase.

Also, Hayward makes several 3/4HP pumps. How do I determine which one is best for my application? I really tried to follow articles regarding feet of head calculation, but there's a reason I'm not an engineer. I estimate approx. 10-15' of pvc will be used to connect the pool to the equipment in an adjoining room.
