We all know that aeration causes PH to rise. With a water feature and bubblers, I can certainly attest to that. Yet the PH in my (stand alone) hot tub, which I would think to be the poster child for aeration, remains rock steady, regardless of use.

How come?

What chemicals do you use in your hot tub?

How long do you aerate your hot tub each week?

The spa (Caldera Niagara) has an inline Frog system that I don't use. I test and treat the water the same as the pool, albeit with some slightly different targets. The CL demand will bounce up and down depending on use, but the PH seems to stay put regardless.

At the very least the spa will run a 15 min cleaning cycle every day, utilizing all pumps and jets. However, on average during any given week, the tub sees more use than that.

Aeration from a SWG + any water features can run 30% or more of the time. Spa cleaning cycle and any use probably doesn't total 5% of the time. If you kept the bubblers in your spa on 12 hours or more out of the day you would see a rise in PH.
