Thanks for this review Kim! I've been thinking about getting a robot as I found I rarely used my suction side cleaner last year - got tired of jumping in the pool to prime and set it up each time and it would often take a long time and still miss a good chunk of the pool, requiring a manual vac to finish up anyway!

Does the pool rover have a brush or do you still need to do that manually? (Won't change my decision, just curious.)

Price point of $300 is attractive as next step up seems to be at $600 and I don't know what beneficial features that would provide for an AGP owner.

Greatly reduces the stress on your pool filtration with a robot. Biggest pro IMO. Nobody wants to clean a filter cartridge. Changing from a suction side cleaner to a robot could mean only needing to clean your cartridge once or twice a year.
 
So true Trick! Especially my cartridge filter - the housing is older so not easy to break down, sometimes have to use a rubber mallet too loosen the locking ring and it is the old fiberglass so if I don't have my skin completely covered I end up with the itchy fiberglass in me.

I've planned to replace it the last few years, but then get going and it is like, why spend ~$500 for a new one when this one does work fine and I only need to break it down for cleaning a few times per season?

The fact that I could spend that $ on a robot instead and also reduce the frequency of cleaning makes it all even more compelling!
 
I ended up ordering this and after having it for over a month, I can say that I absolutely love it. I’ve only used it a few times, but it gets up everything! We had a deck added onto our new pool, and the deck builder got a ridiculous amount of sawdust into the pool. The pool rover jr got it up with no problems at all! There wasn’t a trace of anything left in the pool, but boy was the bag full! Leaves, hair, sand, pollen, and tons of sawdust. I am super impressed.

For my 15x30’ oval pool, I have it set to “large pool” and was wondering if that was right? What do you guys set yours to, and how big is your pool? (I am using the Tapatalk app and I can’t see signatures on it.) Also, what pin am I supposed to be swapping, and why?
 
My pool is 33' round so I also have it set on large pool.

Pin-look at the front set of wheels-you will notice that there are two holes on each axle "holder". There is a "pin" in one of the holes. It has a loop at the top of it to put your finger in to pull it out. I move mine from side to side and front and back. It seems to change the action. It is said to help keep the cord from forming a memory from the curls. Do you see it?

Sorry for the late response. It’s been a little hectic around here. I did find it, and I swapped it out. Thank you! I didn’t realize I needed to do that.
 
I've had my Rover Jr. for over 5 years and while the old girl is slowing down, she still works. I never move the pin on mine, and it's never gotten tangled! Perhaps if I did, it might get the entire area better. That's my only complaint, that I seem to have to guide her sometimes. Thinking of getting a new one for next year, as we also purchased a new sand filter pump that we will be installing. So hoping for a really, really, clean pool for the 2019 season.

I did purchase 2 replacement filter bags from Amazon for $ 17.50 each, and that really helps on making the change out easier.

I built a u-shaped structure from 4" PVC to keep it from going behind the stairs and getting tangled. The bottom of the U goes on the pool-side of the stairs. The sides of the U block access from under the stairs. I have had this for about 2 weeks now.

Next steps:
- drill holes into it to make taking out of the pool easier (drain faster)
- add something so I can pull it out of the pool without having to get in

hmmmm U shaped thingy to keep robot from the back of the steps. Pics please.

Picture attached. Without the thing in place, the robot would somehow manage to get behind and around the ladder, ultimately tangling it up maybe 1 out of 5 times.
