Hello,

Just joined the forum, We just got our Endless Pool X500 delivered about 3 weeks ago. Everything is working fine, chemicals are balanced.

Today I cleaned the filters. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to keep all of the "junk" that is in the filter housing from getting into the pool? I spent more time vacuuming the pool than I spent cleaning the filters.

Thanks,

Ron

Hello and welcome! Can you clarify what type of filter you have and add it to your signature please? Speaking of sig, is that gallon size correct, or are you missing a zero? Last question, are you using a skimmer sock in your poolside skimmer?

I may be wrong Pat but I believe “endless pool” is a brand of swim spa. That leads me to believe the 1650 is correct

Ops. :hammer: You are correct Jim, thanks.

So if that spa/pool takes the small cartridge filters I think it does, they probably get full quick. If there's any chance of algae or off-balanced chemistry, it could get full quickly allowing junk to get blown by. Ron, any chance what you are seeing blown back into the spa is algae? How old is this spa/pool, and how old is the water in it? Do you have a full set of water test results you could provide perhaps?

Hello from N Georgia

Hello,

My name is Ron, I'm an old pool owner but new to TFP. Had an inground pool in Fla, 15 yrs ago, haven't had to deal with one since. Just bought and had installed an Endless Pool X500 with a Covana Legend Cover. Also have a Hot Springs "Jetsetter" with a salt water system.

Got the water chemistry squared away on both units.

My question is in regards to the filters on the X500 swim spa. I've had the unit for a little over 3 weeks and decided to check/clean the filters. After putting the spa on "standby", I removed the filters with no problem. How can I prevent all of the stuff from coming out of the filter holder and getting back into the pool? I spent more time vacuuming and using a hand skimmer to clean up the mess than I did cleaning the filters.

Thanks

The gal size is correct.
There are 4 filters, cartridge type approximately 6"dx12" long, they screw into a "socket that is molded into the skimmers on both sides of the swim spa.
No algae, debris that is coming out are insects, small leaves etc. , bits of cleaning sponge from initial cleanup after installation.
Spa is 22 days old.
What's a "skimmer sock"?

What's a "skimmer sock"?
Ron, a skimmer sock is a small net product like a nylon hose, paint strainer netting, etc that traditional pool owners who have a poolside skimmer insert into the skimmer. It does a great job catching small debris like bugs and dog hair before it can slip through to the main filter. Unfortunately in your case, I don't think you have that option.

I have the same endless pool model as you for almost two years now, (love it) and my solution has been to get a second set of filters and do a very quick swap before too much gunk gets out. I also flip them as I remove them so the threads are pointing up. anything I miss, I get by turning on the current and catching it with the skimmer. I'm down to about ten minutes total, including the skimming of stray bits.
