We bought a house with an inground pool last summer and battled cloudy water and algae all last year and this year. About 3 weeks ago, I took the recommendation of a couple of friends and came here to TFP. I read through Pool School, bought a Taylor test kit, and downloaded the PoolMath app. I realized that my CYA was way too high. I've done some partial drain-refills, and am using rainstorms to slowly help dilute the CYA level.

I'm pleased to say that since then, I've had clear, clean pool water, and my family's enjoyment of our pool has increased greatly. Thank you Trouble-Free Pool members!

My current test results:
FC-5
CC-0
pH-7.4
TA-140
CYA-90 (down from >162!)
CH-50

 Welcome to TFP!!!

Sounds like you have some great friends

Only note is to be sure you keep your FC level above the minimum listed for your CYA level in the [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA].
Those test results indicate your FC is too low and should be kept above 7ppm at all times. (assuming you do not have a SWG)

You're right! I forgot to mention those results were before I added 6% bleach per PoolMath.
