Jandy Aqualink RS / Jandy Heater mystery

Greetings all,

I've recently installed a Jandy Aqualink RS automation system. My electrician did the high voltage connection, I preferred to leave this one to the pros. All is working well with the exception of one, maybe two depending on the feedback I get from the wisdom of the Forum. In addition to the Aqualink RS I have the iAqualink 2.0 to control it via my phone/computer. My Pump works like a charm, light works like a charm, deck jet actuator works like a charm however (this is one item I'm struggling with), I see a percentage option but regardless of the percentage, the actuator is either on/off to where I set the cams. My SWG is fully isolated from the automation so no issues there. Finally my heater, Jandy 260p JXI. I had an after market versa flo bypass module added to my heater and has worked like a charm since. However once I've installed the automation, the heater throws one of two errors, one is "Fault check Versaflo" the other is "Fault Check Ign Steps". I've disconnected the Versa flo and ensured it's in the "open position to ensure flow but no luck. There is no attempt from the heater to even start the ignition steps so I'm at a loss. I've tested the resistance of the ignitor and it's close to 40 so that's not the issue. Also I'm using the 485 connector from the heater to the Aqualink. My gut tells me it's a configuration issue or bad/dumb luck where my heater died and the automation install is just a timing coincidence.

I appreciate any wisdom from you all on the heater and if you have any thoughts or experince on how to set the actuator to allow it for variable levels from x% to 100% that is an added bonus.

Many thanks!!!

The percent for the JVA only does something if you have a SmartJVA controller board installed and configured properly. Sorry can't help on the heater accept to suggest you try just using a 2 wire connection instead.

Thanks PoolGate. I suspected it was the board I was missing but was thrown off when it was showing the percentage in the web interface. As for the heater, I hate the thought of having to pay someone come out to fix it but I don't want to mess with it so long that it's fall and I've got a nice unusable pool in the middle of Indiana. I've pulled the control completely and am getting the same errors and I've done both the Versaflo bypass and the Aqualink disconnect individually. I was hoping someone had experienced either a board incompatibility or something that may have caused the issue that I've just not thought of.

If anyone else has some thoughts feel free to fire away.

Thanks again!

Have you tried removing the versa-flow entirely? I never got that option on mine. Also be advised if you get that board the only way to program it is with the wall remote which is another $500 or so. I got the SmartJVA board and you cannot "marry" it without that wall controller. I gave up.
