Sometimes I write something and then click the wrong button - "Next Thread" instead of "Post Quick Reply." Occasionally the system gives me a warning - "Are you sure you want to leave page" or something like that. But other times it goes to the next thread with no warning. That wouldn't be so bad but if I hit the back button all of my text is always gone. Is there a way I can set things to always ask about leaving the page or somehow save text no matter how I stupid I am about which thing I click?

Almost always the quick reply.
It happened to me just before I asked the question - lost whatever I typed. Then a few minutes ago I did it again and it gave the warning. (I know I should just train myself not to hit next thread, but that is how I read the site so it is muscle memory now)

If you do it again, try going back a page and put your mouse pointer over the three little slash lines in the lower right of the Quick Reply box. That is Auto Save. It should recover what you were typing.

Sometimes that works. What usually works for me is to hit "go advanced", then in the new reply box it will have a restore autosaved content in the lower left corner.

testing - nope got the warning, trying again, nope got the warning again, canceled and trying again because it kept giving me the warning. OK that worked - to hit advanced and then "restore autosaved" (at least on my first try)
