Hello,
Been a lurker here for a while. Just pulled the trigger on an AGP.

24' x 52" Round
Pentair Sand Dollar SD60 - 1 1/2HP 2 speed pump
Hayward CL220 off line chlorinator
Just purchased the TF100 test kit
Pool will be put in on a slope (20inch drop across pool diameter)next to existing deck and porch. I will extend deck after install.
Planning on doing lights.
 
Hello and welcome to TFP! :wave: Great to hear you not only have anew pool on the way, but also have a TF-100 as well. Perfect. FYI - I had to remove the link to the LED lights you are considering. It's a rule thing as a new number until you are a little more established with us (200 posts). It's a rule thing. :) Forum Rules

MrB, I read your install thread nice pool and deck plan. I need to get on the Lowes site to design my deck addition.

Here is where to pool is going, I am hoping they can get it 2-3ft away from the deck and porch max. Top rail should be 18" above the current porch deck. I need to get that downspout moved also. If all goes as planned we will also be adding a hot tub at the far right end of the porch this fall. Going to have electrician run wire for both pool and hot tub.

Sounds like a solid plan. It looks like it will be a really nice spot when its done.

Are you going to be adding any retaining walls for the up hill side next to the deck. 20" of soil removal is quite a bit of soil.

Also that downspout on your gutters should be directed away from you pool. If the downspout is within 5ft of either the pool or hot tub it will need to be connected to the bonding loop.

We will be adding some sort of wall, need to see how much dirt they take out (we have rock like red clay here). Thanks for the note on the downspout, for now I will run it around the pool and out with 4" pipe, and we will make sure we get it bonded.

We will have to see how the leaves are. The trees are about 30 ft away. We know this may be an issue, but are willing to live with what we need to do. That is where we want the pool, it gets direct sun all day until around 630, then it is in the shade. It gets so hot here we want the shade.
 
If you truly have a 20" elevation change you are looking at around 12-15 yards of soil to be moved.

Doing the retaining wall is a good idea it definitely adds some time and cost tho. I ended up with two 36" retaining walls on one side of my pool to step a hill back to make room.

You have tons of roof space for solar water heating panels if you end up wanting to heat you pool.

You won't end up with many more leaves than you would normally have in that section of the yard by the deck on a given year.

A few hours delay due to sand not being delivered, back on track now. They brought a blow up ring intex pool and are filling that now. They told me they will then pump that water into the pool to help kickstart filling and remove any last wrinkles.
 
Understand that hayward chlorinator is something for vacation and not a good way to maintain your pool every day. If you've been lurking a while you probably understand that dry chlorine products will give you high CYA problems over time.

Stock up on liquid chlorine and save the chlorine pucks for only when you're going to be out of town.

Pretty much the only thing to ever go in my pool is liquid chlorine every single day, a small dose of stabilizer at opening and an occasional dose of muratic acid to lower PH. Other than that I've added NOTHING to my water, ever.

Yes, we are going away for 10 days later this month. That is the reason for the chlorination. I have liquid to use until then.
