Hi all! New inground pool just plastered and in the startup phase. Pool company told us to add chlorine tabs in skimmer and tonadd acid every other day for first two weeks. Pool is clear but reading zero chlorine. Is this expected?

Welcome to the forum! Will pH increase quickly requiring more muriatic acid than normal? .... yes. New pools that are curing can take a few months to settle. Take a look at the TFP Pool School - Start-up New Plaster for more details. By the way, never add tabs directly to the skimmer - too acidic.

Make sure you have the right test kit now and start testing your own water - either a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C (link below). That's going to be a must for a happy swim season. :swim:

Welcome to the forum!

What you are seeing is expected the way your PB is instructing you.

Read Pool School - Start-up New Plaster

Sadly, Pool Builders are not known for their understanding of pool water chemistry.

However, they hold the warranty card. Even though they more than not find something to void the warranty if a claim occurs.

Do you have a proper test kit? You need one, now. I use the TF100 from TFTestkits.net. I suggest you order one now.

Read the link above and let us know if you have any questions.

Take care.
