Vinyl has a rip...What to use for repair?

I did attempt to put a tarp on the pool over the winter. I am in Minnesota. That was not successful. The water that was in the pool froze over the winter and during the melting, some of the ice must have cut through the liner. I have identified 3 2 inch rips in the liner. The pool is empty now. What should I do to repair the rips? Once it is sealed, should I fill the pool with a foot or so of water and then try to get the dirt residue off the bottom? 1st winter with a pool.

Thanks

You need a vinyl patch kit... did your liner not come with one? Should be able to find at Walmart, Amazon, etc.

Those aren’t tiny pinholes, which is the only thing I’ve ever had to repair, but all you can do is try and then see if the patches hold up. If they do, once you get water in and balance it, the dirt should soften up and come off with your usual brushing, vacuuming, etc.

Mice eating a pool!? Yikes. I'm a bit worried about rodents chewing threw the pipes of my brand new, beautiful PEX plumbing replacement project. I had to replace copper because of hard water chewing through it from the inside out. Now I have to worry about rats and mice chewing through it from the outside in! I digress.

Apparently these critters can sense or hear or whatever the water, and chew away to get at it. Has that ever happened to anyone while a pool was full? Like at the bottom, near a seam or something? That would bite! (See what I did there?)

Good luck with your patching. Sounds like you have a good solution to try...
