Automatic Irrigation controller suggestions?

I have a simple 6-station XCore from Hunter (installed before "Smart" Homes was a thing). They do have the Pro-HC model which is designed for external use and can be ordered with up to 24 stations (6, 12 or 24) and has sensor inputs for flow control and rain sensing.

I'm actually considering upgrading my irrigation system later this year (redo all the buried lines) and installing the HydraWise flow sensor (tired of finding leaks after the fact....)

I use and recommend the Rachio smart irrigation controller. I have a Gen 2 model and am only using six zones. Gen 3 was recently released which allows manual control on the controller itself and my wife's only complaint because she is not into tech as much as I am.
Looking to buy an automatic controller, need 8 or more station controller that can be controlled by WiFi with an App iOs.

Thanks

Felipe

I bought the Rachio 2 - 16 zone last month. Went to their website the other day to look at flow meter options and saw the 3. Most of the flow meters recommend are the price of the 3 so...

Now I’m waiting for mine to ship in mid-June and can’t wait. I’ve been impressed with the 2 and think having the flow meter with the 3 will help save even more.

Is your controller going to be mounted indoors? If it’s outdoor, did it come with an environmental enclosure? I live in a part of the country with intense heat and UV; something like that wouldn’t last a season outside a proper enclosure.

Indoor but you can buy an outdoor enclosure on their site. The one thing I just notice is that the flow meter needs to be installed on the irrigation line it won't work if you have your irrigation from whole house water line. Might give them a call to cancel the flow meter.

In the US, most building code requires that irrigation water come off the main line using its own loop and backflow preventer/anti-siphon device. This would be a separate pipe off the main so a flow meter could be placed in the location. You would simply need to place the flow meter on the pipe that feeds the control valves. Is it not possible to do that?

My lovely México [emoji1166], code is not required or existent. I tried my best to anticipate solar, wind and gas requirements but failed on the 2 separate water lines. I guess the grass is going to enjoy softened water!
