Self closing doors for final inspection for Arizona

Will they accept a UL 2017 door alarm instead? This will sound an alarm when the door is opened

You are also required to have a door alarm in MD for any door from the house into the pool area. This is in addition to any gates that must be self-closing, have child locks (usually a knob that pulls up) and open outward (towards the yard).

My specific city has some of the strictest requirements in the state...if not the whole country! They require 6' barrier (as opposed to the more common 4') with very specific "max" gap measurements, self closing gates that open "outward" from the pool, the latches described by PoolGate, above, and the door alarms on any doors that lead from the house to the pool area. The 6' barrier/fence thingy threw a huge curve ball on our build, so I am meeting next Monday with a fencing contractor to bring our 2 year old (and very expensive) fence up to code.

As mentioned, I would call any final inspections off until you've brought up your doors/gates/fencing up to code. When it comes to pools, the safety aspect of the inspection has the most of weight of anything else... Townships won't budge on that!

I did an owner/builder for my pool over the summer, and my inspections were through the City of Phoenix. In the end, I had a local company install a self closer on a sliding glass door that I had in order to meet the pool barrier requirements.

The requirements read that doors must be self closing/self latching, they don't specify how the doors must be made self closing so I don't see why a homemade solution would not be acceptable as long as it makes the door self closing/self latching.
