Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

You likely have ideal conditions in your location for a dome! What a lovely winter you will have ;)

Best wishes on the install! And please share pics when you're up! - it will not be tread-hijacking as I consider this an open thread for all dome related questions, incidents, reports and tips ;)
 
And you will know who to blame if there's a problem too! :D Win-win!
 
If both instances work out, TFP could be responsible for “Thunderdomes” popping up all over the chilly northern USA....Lee or Rebecca better get a nice Christmas card and fruit cake from the company that makes them [emoji53]
 
Definitely would not want to hijack your thread as it has been so helpful and fun to follow. We have a busy work schedule this week and hope to have the dome up and running by Saturday. Will post pics, incidents, questions and hopefully some useful info.
 
We're glad you're here now ;) The dearth of info inspired the thread!

Since you haven't installed yet, one thing that will make your install day a bit nicer is a BIG drill...the construction-style ones. Worth a rental vs. the consumer/prosumer style with upgraded drill bits, which we wore through quickly until saved by a pal with the monster drill!

And a chalk line is your friend - the kind you snap for wallpaper if you can figure out how to snap it. My minions measured, hand chalked, and drew their own lines with the tape measure. They were out on one odd-shaped corner on the south end. They also had to re drill the door anchors ;)
 
She is up and inflating! :kim:Will need to make an adjustment/add another eye bolt in a corner. The pool is kind of a mountain lake shape and we had the dome made to curve with the concrete on the back side. I will post pics once I get everything cleaned and furnished. Does it ever lose the "new dome" smell?
Waiting for a call from the HOA..."our satellite monitor indicated a large new structure in your yard. We will need to check that out." :rolleyes:

If it’s not visible from the common area or street why would your HOA care ? (... speaking as a former HOA President....)
 
That’s a really nice setup and it’s going to be lots of fun swimming in your nice warm pool in the middle of January!!

Do you plan to keep the pool covered to control water evaporation? Where’s the equipment pad?
 
Thank you. The whole family plans on using the pool plus we entertain frequently. Also it's for my parents who need the physical activity but found the fitness club pool area way too cold.
The equipment is on the other side of the hot tub just outside the dome. It will have to be insulated. We will be putting on our solar cover as soon as we get the reel for it. The heater is not hooked up yet since it is 85 today. It's been very warm here for fall this year. My husband needs some new pvc pipe fittings since the current heater pipe section is too short to add the line. Wish I could be more specific but HVAC is not my specialty. We still have some minor adjustments to do here and there. Swampwoman should print out this thread and sell as a book. Inflatable Pool Domes for Idiots. We will contribute to the what not to do section.
