I need a quick response please!!

You did not have an issue prior to the acid wash. This might be an algae thing as Dom points out - or more likely - a reaction with the potions the workers used. Would have been very helpful to know what they used, brand names or chemical composition.

Test a couple times a day. This should be quick.

Has the cloudy look subsided any?

Ok, thanks. For how long do I have to maintain that level? I am going to go through a ton of reagant continually testing! Do I need to keep testing for CC?

Maintain shock level until:
The water is clear.
You can pass an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.
CC is 0.5ppm or less.

These are the requirements to end a SLAM Process.

I wouldn't bother with the OCLT until the water clears. You can check CC's once a day to save on reagent.

This was the first time you tested today? Would have been best to test/dose with bleach all day.

Something in your water is consuming your chlorine. Not sure if it is algae or the products they added. Raise the FC back to 16. The pH is OK.

Good luck.

yes, I was terrified of not being able to test all day and having company tonight but just got home to test. Adding bleach and they will be here in 45 minutes. So this will be 10 bottle of bleach just today.....

I would call the PebbleTech people and find out what they used. Needs to be specific brand names and preferably chemical compounds.

The most important thing for your guests is that the pH is in the 7.2 and 7.8 range. When they leave, take your FC back to 16.

Trying to get a hold of them but googled "scale remover" and I am 99% sure this is what they used in addition to MA (I saw the tub sitting on the patio as they were working yesterday) IMG_6168.jpg

edited to add: here is a link of the FAQ's. So it says to test TC because this stuff affectS FC. I am pretty sure they didn't use anywhere close to a full tub-probably several cups. In light of this new information how would you all suggest I proceed?? I am so new to this stuff and this is all way over my head. I understand the SLAM process but the link is saying that would be over-chlorinating my pool in this case

From Jack's Magic #2 --

It says in the instructions that the FC reading will be skewed for up to 30 days, and to use the TC (FC+CC) reading as your guide.

So your FC reading is incorrect. You must measure CC for a true chlorine reading.

I would loudly complain at those folks for screwing you up.

The scale remover was probably sulfamic acid. It combines with chlorine to form a type of combined chlorine.

Rebalancing after Jack's Magic #2

thank you for directing me to this thread!! Very helpful. So I guess I will ignore FC and keep TC in target for the next 30 days. Crossing my fingers this all works out without an algae outbreak in the interim!! Makes me never want to allow anyone to touch my pool ever again

Yes. Just use the combined FC and CC for the next few weeks as your target FC.

Take care.
