lose 1" water daily

Hi,

My pool is losing about 1" daily and i also did the bucket test over night from 6 PM to next day 7 AM. The pool (system is off) is losing about 0.5 inch water compare to the bucket. I think this mean the pool is leaking water. I want to know anyone in Albany NY can recommend me any constructor or pool leak detector and repair contact for me?

K,

Yes, sounds as if you have a leak..

Before you contact anyone you can run a few tests to see if you can narrow down the location.

Turn off the pump and see what happens, Does the leak stop or not?? If it stops, it could be a simple as a bad spider gasket in your multiport valve.

It the leak continues with the pump off, you can wait a couple of days with pump off and see if the water level stops by itself.

It could stop right below the skimmer, indicating a possible skimmer leak, or below the returns, or at the pool light.

Sorry, but I have no input on who to contact in your local area.

Thanks for posting and good luck getting it fixed,

Jim R.

Yes, i shut off the pump and it loses 0.5" water from 6 PM to next day 7 AM. I will do the skimmer leak check. Thanks.

Re: lose 1" water daily

I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this. Add 'Albany NY' to your title. It might grab the attention faster of someone in your area.

You might try sending a private message to the folks in post #2 of this link: Leak that I can't find...

It is a couple of years old, but it's worth a quick message.

Hi,

The leak detector helped me patched the hole on liner and no more leaking water now. He said this will help me for this season. Could I consider to replace the liner next season?, until the liner leaking again, or just keep patching the liner until the liner un-patchable? Also my liner is 15 years old.

I had several leaks in my 9 year old vinyl liner and patched them up last year. This year, they were all still intact and not leaking. I would say keep at it as long as you know it's not leaking, otherwise it could potentially cause more damage in the long run.

Was it Len? I heard he had some health issues but is back in action. I'm still going with my liner that had multiple small holes along with a couple of big ones. I'm trying to talk my wife into escaping the exhorbitant taxes in NY and hoping a new liner is a project for the next owner!
