Hi there,
I snagged the incredible deal on a rocky roller and almost brand new cover for 150$.. now I'm attempting to trim the cover to fit our pool and have some questions..
We want to permanently anchor the reel along the back of the deck. Do you guys feel it's too far away from the pool to be reeling in a 16x32 cover? I have read some other folks posts about buying fabric straps to accommodate this but hoped for some first hand advice.. Also, is it crazy to think I could just cut the cover at the end by the ladder and leave the rest as is and let it lay on the deck?? I'm thinking it may ruin the deck underneath...?

I got a sharp pair of scissors and just slid them along and it cut right through as I walked around the pool. It is better to cut to fit inside the pool so the wind doesn't pick it up.

That's an awesome deal on the reel and cover. I paid full price earlier in the year but am very happy with the reel. I agree with pooldv, the cover should be in the pool to avoid the wind catching it. You may just need longer straps to reach from the roller to the pool when it's in the cover. Be slow about reeling it in the first turn or so around the reel to make sure it doesn't bunch up and you should be ok.
