hello everyone,
another new pool owner question. I have been focusing on learning my chem's and how to keep my pool in balance. Now that I have that pretty much down I've started to check some other things. my pool is about 11 years old, and we purchased the home last year. I've attached some pictures of the pebble tec. Do you see the lighter areas? Is this normal? Is this my pool wearing it out? Any information is appreciated.. thanks in advance

Yes, it is completely normal for the plaster color, especially blue and black, to fade from UV exposure over time. It isn't wearing out, only the color is fading, and will last for many, many years with proper balance of pH, TA and CH. It will continue to fade more and more every year.

Just be sure to avoid scale or etching which can permanently damage the plaster. More here, Pool School - Calcium Scaling

thank you. Some friends at work were telling me it could be leaching the calcium out of the pebble tec and I would probably be refinishing it. So I wanted to bring to the table here. I'm going to go read the article you referenced. thanks again!
