Last of the pictures for tonight. Losing daylight. Im going to add the rest of this half gal and test again at 830 and again at 930

Last summer before close my cya was between 30 and 40. With the new water added and a couplw backwashes in going to assume its around 20.
I know I will need to add some but I want get a handle on what the chlorine demand is before messing with other things.
Im going to shoot for a 18ppm level to maintain. During this clean up. Its possible that my cya is lower then 20 but more FC its not gonna hurt...

Made it thru night without a backwash.
Gonna attempt manual vac today. Not a lot of large debris. Tons of finer debris/waste mostly in center from circulation effect.
Edit: Smells very bleachy. Can tell the bleach is doing its thing. Smelled like a compost pile in the beginning.

Adding borax later to boost PH in preps for CYA addition.
All depends on if backwashing slows down. I normally add thru skimmer. Might revert to sock at return method.
Testing CYA later.

I wouldn't mess with PH until FC is down. You can't get an accurate PH measure above 10ppm FC.

I gotta bump the PH some. It was at 7.2 when this whole process started. Nothing has been added to increase it.
Very little bit of arration in beginning while filling.
After my CYA test I will decide if I am going to bump the PH in prep for CYA.
