I need to repair a damaged vermiculite base and wondered if it would be ok to level it out with a skim coat of portland and sand? And if it is ok should I use a 3:1 mix or 8:1 mix?
It is best to repair with vermiculite/poolcrete. You want to match the existing material, or get at least close. Trying to mix materials, vermiculite and concrete, will lead to problems down the line.
