I've got a 10x20x4ft above ground pool. We are still leveling the ground but we are almost there. We are doing a salt water system. What do I need for testers. What is good salt? what is good sand? What do I need to know? What do you wish you knew when you started?

. Congrats on getting the pool. In Houston you NEED it!
Your pool will need testing of:
FC (free chlorine)
CC (combined chloramines...the cooties, sort of)
pH
TA (total alkalinity)
CYA (the stabilizer level)
Salt
I would recommend the TF-100 for you. https://tftestkits.net/TF-100-Salt-Test-Kit-p142.html
Other tests kits we endorse include the K-2006 found online at various sites, but the TF-100 is a better buy.

The sand in a pool sand filter is #20 silica sand
Salt can be added using solar salt, sold for use in water softeners (sodium chloride). You want the kind that is 99.4% pure or better and which doesn't have any rust inhibitor or other additives. Crystals are fine. Pellets will work but dissolve slightly more slowly.
