Look at that water! You are doing great with getting the pool back and diligent with testing and it shows!

I bet you will have decent holds today. It is normal not to lose anything at night when there is no sun and the leaches not eating anything. The water is almost there.

Thank you! Still have to tackle the filter part - better I learn with all of you than by myself! Thank you sooooo much everyone! Not only has everyone been really nice, but extremely responsive and helpful, and SMART! :)

Let us know when you are ready to tackle the filter and shoot us a pic. so we are sure what we a talking about.

Here are the photos of the filter. I have to run out to my sister-in-laws - we are making a weighted blanket for an 8 month old that we know that has major heart issues. I should be home around 4 or 5:00. Does that work? Or if you are able to look at the photos and LMK your thoughts? The two pipes on the left is the pump and the skimmer. The two pipes on the right are for the jets in the seats of the pool.
LMK your thoughts. Thank you!!!!

I see unions! That will make your filter looking/cleaning SO easy!

See those white circle things on the left of the filter? Those are unions. You can turn the outside (lefty loosey) ring and slid it back out of the way and your filter top will be free from all of those pipes.

I cannot see what is on the right side but I am hopeful that it has unions also.

Step by step:

-turn off pump

-close all values to off to stop flow of water out of the pool.

-loosen the unions

-turn the ring that is holding the top of the filter onto the sand tank

-carefully lift the top off and set it aside using care

What you are looking for is the sand inside the tank. Is it loose? Does it move when you put your hands into it?

You can gently run a water hose (with the water running) into the sand. That will flush some stuff up and out of the tank.

Sometimes the sand channels so cannot do it's job. You can loosen it up so that it is able to work again it that happened.

I do NOT want you to take the sand out at this point. You are making great progress with your pool clearing and I do not want that to stop.

Do not do anything if you are at all unsure what you are doing. We can walk you through it.

So sweet of you to make that weighted blanket for the baby!

Score! I see blue!!!! I was waiting for that change.

Unions can be tricky sometimes to remove if they haven't been undone in awhile. You should be able to remove them by hands however. As KimKats stated however, just wait until tomorrow. A deep clean takes some time and you'll want to get a good look inside the filter while you're doing this. Wait until daylight. :D

I know! They are tough! Shhhhhhhhhhhhh but I have to use a DULL/BLUNT screwdriver and hammer. I put the flat edge of the screwdriver against one of the ribs and GENTLY tapped until it came loose.

It might be helpful for you to stop by a lowes or home depot to play with a union to see how they are put together and come apart.

I am looking on google now but all of them are screwed together. I will keep looking.
