Official 2024 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Dusted these chicken thighs with Yardbird and then cooked for 45 min. with the vortex. Family couldn’t get enough. Very juicy and flavorful.View attachment 565066
Looks great Funny I did some thighs and a spatchcock chicken again on the rectec smoker

Had some pieces of leftover ribeye that had been smoked and seared. Were thinner pieces that were a little too well done and wouldn't have been good just reheated. Decided to shred them with food processor's cheese grater. Used the griddle to make cheesesteaks. Turned out awesome. No pics, was late and they just looked like normal cheesesteaks. Would do again. Love the griddle!

Those thighs look fantastic! Nice job. I hardly use my Kettle any more, but I still think it’s the most versatile grill you can get, especially for the price. I never got a Vortex, but have the Slow n Sear.

Well, summer is officially on! Cooked the first brisket of the year. It’s only a small flat, since it’s just for me and my wife, but a fun cook. Gotta be more careful with the flat because, without the point, it can dry out quickly. Cooked at 250° until IT hit 160°, then wrapped with some beef broth. Didn’t probe tender enough until IT hit 207°, so I was a bit worried about it being dry, but it was just fine! 20F5B473-3826-475F-A5CD-87D211E0F42B20240515_180204.jpeg

im going cheap today. chuck roasts. I have been wanting to try it out. 1 for sandwiches and one for burnt ends. I had them cut me 2 that were 3.5 each vs the stupid little ones usually around. oh and fish tacos from the crappie I caught Thursday. I went for some bass catch and release. I caught a huge crappie so grabbed my panfish rod and casts later 6 more fish I switched over. they were everywhere. had to work through 100's of small ones but got my typical 20 and was good to go. I never take more panfish then needed for my family and if my parents want fish. I don't have the energy to do big clean and freeze runs. lol went for bass next day. . . we landed 40 plus so I got my bass fill. lol

Garlic scapes are harvested. Put some in with some bruschetta chicken (chicken, tomato, onion, etc baked in the oven) last night.

I still have 30 or so scapes to do something with.

I bought a new grill last weekend. Here's some chicken breasts I marinated - half is orange chicken with a homemade marinade, and the other half is red curry and sriracha with a little black truffle oil. On top is spicy marinated pork belly. Second photo is (homegrown) zucchini fries fried in beef tallow. I've been growing a ton of zucchini and yellow squash this year!

I also made some zucchini bread, but my pictures of it were not that attractive. I also have two batches of beer fermenting right now, but again, they just look like plastic buckets so I'll leave the pictures out.
