Is it suggested to SLAM when opening?

Opened my pool 2 weeks ago. It was crystal clear vacuumed the 1 million spiders and very little debris from the bottom. My first test results were:
FC 11
CC 0
CYA 50
TA 80
PH 7.2

I added some borax for PH and tested and vacuumed again 13 days later. Results were:
FC 2
CC 0
PH 7.5
I added some bleach today to get up the FC. My question is it normal for the FC to be so high when opening. I do wait til the water is below 60 to close and open when still pretty cold.I figured the FC was still high and no CC so no need to SLAM. Just want to make sure I am on the right track of thinking.
Thanks,
Bryan

P.S. so happy to use the pool tracker app and ordered a speed stir with some regents today.
