Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

They could have mixed in the shells when they added the water to the plaster mix. But, in any case, I'd still try sweet talking him into hand casting more!

Also, remember your plaster has a warranty so take a deep breath and relax and enjoy getting plastered!! +1 on what y'all said about that blue! I can't wait to see it acid washed and filled!! And don't forget to cover the ends of the hoses and attach a "floater" to them.

:calm: :bounce::bounce::bounce: Can you tell I'm happy for you??

Oh, Denise I'm sorry this is taking away from your plaster excitement and it's replacing it with fear and worry. Are the plaster guys all out there in the rain watching it with you? I'd be taking pictures so I could remember the process later and be able to laugh as I tell the story (after the pool is completely finished, perfect, and I'm floating away in it as I retell our build woes). I'm a picture nazi though according to everyone that knows me so maybe that isn't for everyone. Continuing to pray the weather let's up and you get some peace of mind. I'd be freaking out too. Stay hopeful and remember even when we don't know what it is, everything happens for a reason!!

Oh, Denise!!!! :bounce::bounce::bounce: You're getting plastered!!! I was half scared to check this morning. It's really happening, and it's looking great!

The trim tile is terrific! I love, love, love it! You did a fabulous job setting it all out. Nini, you're gonna be amazed how much you love and enjoy all the special touches you designed in your pool - those lovely Nini steps; the multi levels and jets in the spa (I wish you had designed mine!); the corner step-outs repeated throughout the pool (the Nini step-outs ; I've never seen that before) ; your spillway (what kind is that called?) ; that gorgeous peacock tile (my, you have excellent taste - hee hee!) ; and those hours you spent placing the tiles just the way you wanted them! You thought of everything.

If you enjoy swimming under the water, definitely get a mask so you can really enjoy all those beautiful details under water - it's soooo fun! In fact, I got a new mask yesterday and still love looking around the pool underwater. Even the boo-boos make me smile!

I can't stop smiling! I'm so excited for you!:party::party:

Hugs!

Thank you, Suz! Hugs right back to you!! I loved your steps but it's fun to have my own version now (thanks to you and Helen!)
Yes, I always loved swimming underwater! Masks are definitely in our future!

nini is getting plastered!!! OH happy day! Did you check the color???????? extras??????

Thanks, Kim!

He had said he added some more shells. It was after that conversation that I saw him hand cast some, so maybe I got both?
Thanks for the reminder about the warranty. And thanks for sharing my excitement! I'm hoping the water color looks good. Haven't seen it in person...

So happy for you getting plastered. Turning out real nice. Looking forward to seeing them finish and do the acid wash .

Then the big fill begins tomorrow.
Irwin, at the rate the rain is coming down, it will be filled today! (Not really) ;)

That blue is gorgeous!

I am hoping this goes super smoothly for you! You deserve something to go right! Can wait to check in later for the pics!

Thank you, PAgirl! I appreciate it! BTW-PA is one of my favorite places! My daughter in law is from Pittsburg. I had the pleasure of going there a few years ago for a nursing conference. Great downtown area for walking around!
Hubby and I have vacationed in Philly twice and just love it! We plan to go back to PA as there are so many other areas we want to visit.

Thanks, TM!! Yes, taking lots of pictures! I'll upload some more in a bit. Gotta recharge my phone.

They are done for today and cleaning up. One of the guys told me they will be back tomorrow for acid wash and not to worry. Said this happens sometimes. I told him that I'm a like nervous new mama and he said he understood. I mentioned that it's a lot of $$. He said it is for them as well and that they guarantee all their work. He told me to be out there when they acid wash it and let them know if I see anything I don't like. He said they will check it over really good tomorrow.
I am off all day tomorrow.

Yeah!! Hopefully he has calmed your nerves. Glad you are off tomorrow so you can watch! Did they say what time they'd be there? You might want to have a "snack" for them ready, especially if it's in the morning. Breakfast tacos are alway a big hit.

Can you believe it's actually almost over??? You'll be swimming in just a couple of days!! Pool party at Denise's house!!!

I LIKE this guy!!! I believe everything he said. And also great he suggested you be out there for the acid wash to give any concerns. My plaster guys were the same - understanding and all about customer satisfaction. Gotta love those little rays of sunshine from strangers, right?!

not rain! I hope it looks as pretty as it should when they come back tomorrow. What a sad sight it had to be when you saw all of that happening. Lets hope he is right!

That color is BRIGHT! Man I hope it comes out good!

More pictures from the day. They will be here between 7-8 in the morning to acid wash. The head guy came back before I left for work. I told him it looked like some of the tiles were sticking up and not flush with the plaster. He said they will probably need to buff some areas and they will bring some material as well in case they need it.
Is that a bad thing to "add material"??

Dealing with the rain...

Shop vac to the rescue!

Brown streaks

Visible abalone shells!!

All done...

Close up of backwash pipe (?) pointing toward heater...

Those brown streaks will acid wash off so NO wortirs with them. Ask Suz about them having to do a little adding for some thing and it turned out fine......

Do your awesome work saving people, drink an adult drink when you get home then sleep until they get there.

I looked back on my build - yes, on the day of the acid wash, one of the guys went around with a small plastic jar of blue plaster to patch wherever needed. So they can do patchwork. If you can't sleep and want to see more about the acid wash, here's the link to page 58 where I try to explain what happened at my pool. I'm guessing the process is basically the same. Post #1153. Ha! You can even see the guy with the little jar of plaster - not that it really shows much. Personally, I'd just get some rest!

Sleep well tonight!!! You've been on a roller coaster!!! (for a long time, too)

Ohhhhh! That color is going to be fabulous!!!

What's the weather forecast for tomorrow?

Thanks, Suz! The weather app on my phone shows bright and sunny. But it should that for today as well! In fact, it never did register that it was raining here in Bixby, only Tulsa!

That's good to know, Kim! They did tell me that but I trust you all more than any of these subs.
I'll be headed to be in a bit after I relax for awhile, but I will be up before the sun so I can get out there and go over the shell with a fine tooth comb and mark with black tape any problem areas. I did a quick look when I got home tonight. I'm trying not to panic but I found some cracking and some holes.

Color is great now. Wait 'till you see it after acid wash.
Be prepared for a lot of brushing. I just got finished doing mine second time today.
Thanks, Irwin! I asked about brushing and got a very nonchalant answer... It was weird.

is that blue surf?

Looks great with all your other colors!
Thanks, bdrex28! It does kinda look like blue surf but it is a Finest Finishes product called Radiant Fusion. The color is Topaz. You can see a large GORGEOUS example of Radiant Fudion if you search for martinkennedy' build. He used the same finish in Royal Blue. His build is worth reading!

Thanks, Suz, once again! I went directly to that page and read your posts. I can only pray my crew is as detailed as yours.
Did you have any cracks or holes???
My whole ledge and the corner area to the right of the spa (as you face it) are problematic as well as the wall by that skimmer.
This roller coaster has too many of those looooonnngggg drops that make you come out of your seat and scream. I prefer the log ride...

Denise, I'm not sure I'd put tape on the plaster. It might damage it in some way and you don't want to void the warranty. Maybe just put the tape on the coping above it.

Those shells are really gonna shine after the wash! You're getting water tomorrow! Woohoo!! :whoot:
