Explosion in skimmer

Hey guys!! we had some people over to open up our pool, and from the distance they poured something into the skimmer and there was an explosion
There is now a crack in my skimmer and
Leaks. Any ideas

The different forms of Chlorine particularly don't play well with each other. Any chance you had tabs in there and they dumped bleach in ?

Mixing dichlor or trichlor with calcium hypochlorite will produce nitrogen trichloride, which can spontaneously explode.

Do you mean closing the pool? What did they put in the skimmer?

The first idea is to inquire about their insurance to cover the damage due to their negligence. Did they not tell you what was added?

It happened this summer We were having them clean up the pool as it turned green. The company said they would fix. Have not heard from them so we are trying to figure out next move. The skimmer is now cracked. When water is at level of skimmer it just leaks out of pool

So they exploded your skimmer and have left town? It might be time for a letter to the owner saying if it’s not fixed within 30 days they will be receiving a small claims lawsuit as skimmers are very expensive to fix. Maybe see if home insurance will cover it since they have lawyers that can persuade the offenders to act faster.
