Hello!

Have question about diamond Brite install.

We recently re-did our pool. Contractor has installed a diamond brite without asking us the color we wanted and we asked it to be changed. He put a grey colored diamond brite, we wanted white.

Previous Diamond brite has been installed , pool was filled for about 1 month and now he is replacing the diamond brite.

He is installing the new diamond brite directly on top of the old one ( it’s 1 month old )

Wasn’t he supposed to chip off the old one first ?
Can you install diamond brite on top of old one , if old is free of cracks and chips?

Thank you 🙏

Hi and welcome to TFP. I am glad he decided to give you the color you wanted. He should have asked WAY before now thought but it is what it is.

So you can put plaster on top of plaster without chipping out the old plaster IF a good bonding agent is used. Now there is a down side to it. If/when it comes time to redo the plaster (a ways down the road) you will have to have BOTH layers chipped out. This could cost you more as it is two layers. The good news is you found TFP and we can teach you how to care for you new plaster so it can last a good, long time!
