This is only our second season w our pool and we’ve decide to open it ourselves. Took the cover off 2 weeks ago and it was a murky green mess. After adding a ton of shock and algaecide and running filter 24/7 pool is still cloudy (can’t see past first step). I was told to try flocking. I’ve since come to learn that is bad advice for a cartridge filter. So now what? How do I get it clean and clear?

Welcome to TFP! When algae strikes, strike back by performing a SLAM Process. Unlike a periodic "shock", with the SLAM you MAINTAIN the proper FC level based on your CYA. To do that you must have a good test kit, either a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C.

Checkout our SLAM Process and Pool Care Basics pages for all the details. It works. If you have any questions let us know.
