Do you prefer a blue bubble cover or a clear one and why? Also, what mil? I had a 16 mil and it was just too heavy and didn't last more than 2 seasons. Is an 8 mil too thin?
My CYA was WAY to HIGH over 100! So, I emptied the spa and refilled it.
I understand that I want 20-30 CYA in my spa. It won't take long for me to use dichlor to get CYA up to that. Then what?
If I continue to use dichlor granules, the CYA will skyrocket again. Even if I empty and refill...
I just cleaned my filter. My psi on low is 3 and my psi on high is 18. Is this normal? The filters (we have two that we alternate at cleaning time. I clean every two weeks early on as we get so many maple seeds and then cotton seeds in the spring and early summer) are in their 6th year...
I'm trying to figure out if I need a new pump or it's something else.
We have a two speed (high and low) pump. Normally, I just run it 24/7 on low. Several times a day it just shuts off on low. If I turn it to high, it works. If it turns off while on high, it doesn't work on low either...
How do you all clean your solar blanket? Mine is a 16 mil and quite heavy. I have been trying to turn it upside down every so often and let it clean that way, but that's a hassle. I don't want to take it completely off. Any one have any clever ideas?
I have an AG pool. I think the lawn mower propelled a small rock and it hit the frame. It is beginning to rust. There is no actual hole yet, but there is rust. How would I clean it and repair it?
I thought I had read somewhere that when adding CYA, you should not have your solar blanket on the pool as it can cause it to go brittle faster. If so, at what point can you put it back on again?
I have something yellow in a few areas on the top of my solar blanket. It's bright yellow and it has been wet from the rain, so don't know if it was powdery. Can yellow algae form on the top of my cover? My pool water looks great.
This is our 4th summer with this filter pump. Last fall it quit working on low and only on high. After we closed the pool, we took it to be looked at. They couldn't find anything wrong. It worked for them. They said it must have an overheating problem.
This spring it has worked fine for 3...
Hi All! My CYA was at 35 last fall when I closed the pool. I had it tested at pool store at they say it is at 5. I read where I shouldn't be adding cya or testing it unless my water is at least 70 degrees. It is 59 right now. We've had COLD spring in Saline MI area. Should warm up this...
My CYA is 32. If I add chlorine in the evening, it is the same ppm in the morning. But....in the sun, and 70 degrees, I am losing 4 ppm FC per day. I'm worried about what it will be when it gets REALLY hot out! Water temp is only 71. Should I add more CYA?
Hi all! We were trying to clean out our pump strainer basket today. Turned off the pump, closed the out take valves, top and bottom valve. Relieved pressure from filter. Unscrewed the pump top.
But water continually flowed out of the top of the pump. Couldn't figure out how to stop it...
My CC is at 1 and I was told to add a non-chlorine shock oxidizer called "shock and swim." How serious is a high cc? I have noticed that the FC is going fast. My CYA is at 30. My pH and TA are fine. Water is clear.
I have a little bit of muck at bottom of pool that I haven't vacuumed out...
I just wanted to share with you what we did to make removing our solar blanket easier for our above ground pool. I'll give you the possible negative first... you have to be in the pool to do this. But then I'd be getting in to swim anyway.
I bought 4 2.5' bungee cords with the hooks covered...
I'm a little concerned about my pH and TA. We just topped off our pool to begin the season. My numbers are:
FC .8 I'm adding chlorine
pH 7.7
TA 105
CH 149
CYA 19 I'm adding 3# of CYA
I have a vinyl above ground pool. Water was nice and clear when we took tarp off. Water is at 70...
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Heatsvr liquid pool cover. We have a very nice bubble cover, but it is so inconvenient to use with our above ground pool. I did solve the problem with the use of bungee cords holding the cover up against the pool. But I still have to be in the...

Thanks to everyone here, I have done a pretty good job of maintaining our pool! You've made it manageable and successful! Thanks ever so much! I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go forward, but so far, so good! :)
This will be our first winter with our new pool. We live in michigan, but will be wintering in FL. So we won't be around to pump water or add chemicals. If we blow out our lines and disconnect everything, do we really need to cover the pool? Planning to close in late October or early Nov and...
Hi all! I'm thrilled to have found you all! We just filled our new pool with purchased water yesterday. Tomorrow, we should have the electrical done so we can turn on pump and start circulating. I had the water tested at "Clearwater Pools" locally.
