My Father-in-law tried to open my pool! Help!

So retest in the morning to make sure everything is as it should be before I start my SLAM? I had added baking soda last night and my TA is testing at 60ppm now.

My Father-in-law tried to open my pool! Help!

My Father-in-law tried to open my pool! Help!

So I added 27 oz borax this morning, waited about an hour to test, and my ph still tested "yellow", so below 7. I've added another 25 oz about an hour ago and about to go test. Should I be worried or just assume it was lower then my safe guess?

My Father-in-law tried to open my pool! Help!

Trust me, this was not my doing! I only ever add the plain old generic Clorox, no fancy stuff. I wasn't home when the help was happening. :(

My Father-in-law tried to open my pool! Help!

So before I start adding, I just want to get this straight. I have borax and baking soda on hand. I'll be running to the store for my bleach after work tonight. I'm adding 27oz of borax to get ph up to 7.2 Also adding 19oz of baking soda to raise TA to 50. Can I do these concurrently or...

My Father-in-law tried to open my pool! Help!

Shockingly enough, lounge cushion remains in tact and unfazed! CLEANER THAN EVER after that shock! lol Okay, so I'm adding bleach until I get to 16 and keeping it there until SLAM is over. And adding borax to get my PH up to 7.2? Should I hold off on adding bleach until I raise my PH? I...

My Father-in-law tried to open my pool! Help!

Long story short, he thought he was helping. He bought some stuff from some store and dumped it in. A Few days ago my FC was testing off the charts (I stopped after I had used 50 drops so as not to waste reagent). I use a K-2006 kit. I've been using my skimmer to pull leaves off the bottom...

Am I on the right track??

Went away for the weekend so I didn't finish my SLAM. Just vacuumed and there was dead algae all over the pool floor. Picking up more bleach in a bit to keep me at slam levels. I'm soooo ready for this to be done! And the ladder is still sitting in my yard. I just haven't had the energy to...

Am I on the right track??

I had just brushed the pool, kicking up the dead algae, which may account for the haziness? Fortunately, it's going to cold and rainy for the next few days here so this may be my chance to knock this final fight of algae out without the sun/heat/temptation to swim getting in my way! Lol Sent...

Am I on the right track??

I probably am not there yet. I just vacuumed and there was dark dead matter at the bottom. I snuck up on it. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I on the right track??

So I can see the bottom of the opposite side of the pool. (yay!!) Is that "clear"? I honestly think our pool was never clear the last few summers so I'm not sure I have a clue what it should look like. Should I do the OCLT tonight? It's hard to capture by photo because of the reflection. Sent...

Am I on the right track??

I'll just wait. :( It makes me too nervous. I can see the bottom clearly. But it's still a little cloudy. My FC is going much slower today. It's only gone down 4.5ppm from 8am till 5pm. And it was sunny and hot today. So hopefully soon I'll see crystal waters! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I on the right track??

Thanks!! Ok, I know this is TFP blasphemy, but I'm asking anyway. Can I let the FC drop tomorrow so we can swim, then bring it back up to SLAM? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I on the right track??

That makes sense! I'm going to hit Home Depot this weekend for foam, quickcrete and silicone. (Is the silicone in a tube, like a caulk would be? I'm not familiar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I on the right track??

I'm in need of some POP. My pool is fabulously blue, but still not clear. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks at SLAM. I'm getting impatient. I know it's working. I'm just feeling whooped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I could try sealing ALL the ladder holes and weighting down as that poster did (rather than buy the weights from Amazon). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I on the right track??

What a pain, indeed! I'm stumped. My pops a plumber. I'm going to see if he has any suggestions. I'll ask him if silicone would do the trick! On a positive note, I can make out the bottom of the pool! Even after all that algae escaped the ladder yesterday!! Just gave the sides a good scrub...

Am I on the right track??

Sand doesn't go into the steps. But there are really small holes in each step (maybe 2, or 4). So water can get in, but probably not out. When I pulled the ladder out, water came out of the steps, as well as green guck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Am I on the right track??
