    Help With Leak

I forgot to note…when I opened the pool and removed the return and skimmer plugs it was either full or so close to full that I didn’t notice. However, we also get about 40” of rain per year here in PA, so normal rainfall could have been keeping it full over the winter given the small leak...

    Help With Leak

I seem to have developed a small leak in my in ground pool and can’t find it. I keep my pool covered with a solar cover, so very little or no evaporation and in the past the pool lost water very slowly due to regular usage when the cover wasn’t on. And it’s been a very dry Spring and no use in...

    Easytouch Solar Programming

Thanks for pointing out the error in my posting title…corrected. I guess I will also try to play around with the Start and Run parameters too, but my understanding was that those settings were only related to the solar temperature sensor compared to water temperature. And those are already set...

    Easytouch Solar Programming

I recently installed some solar panels (DIY). I thought I had everything up and running correctly, but now not sure. The valve to divert to solar appears to work correctly and turns on/off based on the solar temperature setting. However, I noticed today that when the pool gets close to the...

    Rust Around Skimmer Plates

Yes, that is correct, but I can’t imagine anything is water tight behind the liner regardless. Even if the skimmer was attached to the pool wall, I assume ground water would still find it’s way between the wall and liner at the bolted wall panel joints.

    Rust Around Skimmer Plates

Close to 8 years…so far the liner seems to be in good shape (fingers crossed!)

    Rust Around Skimmer Plates

I have rust stains around my skimmer plates and can’t determine the cause. The stains are mostly near the water line on the outside of the skimmer plate, but also a little below the water line and a couple spots on the inside of the plates and a tiny bit around a couple screws too. I had the...

    Rust Around Skimmer Plates

When I opened the pool this year there were some rust spots on the skimmers. Both on the inside edge of the plate and and the outside edge in isolated spots. I took a few screws out and its not the screws. The pool is 4-5 years old and I have noticed this in the past a few times, but much less...

Removing Fine Dirt From Dirty Salt

FYI...for anyone that was following this. I did overnight chlorine loss test and didn’t have any loss. However, since I was still at a loss as to the cause of my cloudy water, I still raised the chlorine level to about 3/4 of shock level (still wanted to swim as this is the hottest weather we...

Removing Fine Dirt From Dirty Salt

I had the cover on for the last 1-1/2 days and when I opened it looked cloudy...about the same as the day I vacuumed and put the cover back on. On that day and prior days when I checked it, the water seemed pretty clear and the “dirt” was on the bottom. It only got cloudy after I vacuumed...

Removing Fine Dirt From Dirty Salt

I am now wondering if I have a mustard algae problem instead of dirt and it was just cooncidence I had dumped some dirty salt in a day or two before this issue. I have read older threads where it seems some types of mustard algae can appear to be dirt that settled on the bottom of the pool...

Removing Fine Dirt From Dirty Salt

I thought the same thing possibly, so I going to check it. However, I am careful to inspect any time I clean and make sure the gaskets are all in place for proper seating. Also, headloss appears to be the same as it always is, so any hole or leak path would have to be pretty small. Finally...

Removing Fine Dirt From Dirty Salt

A week or two ago I added a bag of salt and didn’t notice it was a bad (really dirty) bag of salt till most was already in the pool. It made the water cloudy, but a lot settled out in the bottom of the pool over the few days it wasn’t used. I manual vacuumed, but the particles are so fine they...

    Easytouch and Pump Priming

My pool is 3 years old and has an Easytouch controller and Intelliflow VS+SVRS pump. Is there a way to set the priming speed? There appears to be a setting in the Easytouch for priming speed, but it doesn't appear to do anything. I really don't like the pump starting up and running full speed...

Pentair SWG - Low Salt Reading

Starting up the pool for the year and still getting things balanced. I seem to have an issue I don't remeber having in the prior two years. My SWG is off due to very low salt - 2500 ppm on the display. However, the salt test kit is showing 3200 ppm (still a little low as I am working on...

    Is Shocking Necessary?

I have been following TFPC method since I got my pool 1-1/2 years ago. However, it is unclear to me if I need to shock the pool at opening or on any other frequency. I have a salt water pool and I open before it gets very warm. Additiinally, I have the high end Merlin mesh cover that...

How to pop out small section of liner bead

Never mind...used a piece of heavy gauge solid wire and bent the end to make a hook to help pull it out.

How to pop out small section of liner bead

I have a water bubble behind the liner along the water line and I want to pop off a couple feet of liner to test the water and see if it is caused by a leak or groundwater. However, I am having a hard time getting the liner out of track without damaging the liner. Any suggestions? I read...

Possible Leak - Localized Water Behind Liner

Could it be a localized leak that is not carried away fast enough to prevent the localized bubble? Maybe it is draining away, but not fast enough since the water pressure below is keeping the liner tight to the wall. And I don't know if the joints in the steel wall panels are possibly sealed...

Possible Leak - Localized Water Behind Liner

I don't have any drains or dry wells near the pool area. However, the pool is slightly raised...the yard was graded so that the pool deck is even with the back porch. This places the waterline slightly above the yard level on each end of the pool (ground slopes down away from pool on each...

Possible Leak - Localized Water Behind Liner

My pool is about 1-1/2 years old. I have never had any issues till now...thanks to following the advice on this site for general pool care/chemistry. Just today I noticed a relatively small bubble in the liner at the water line. I know it wasn't there a couple days ago as I cleaned the...
