Old R-871 .75 ounce bottle of reagent

Sorry for late reply as I'm out of pocket right now. Hmm when I get back I'll switch the tips on the little bit left in the .75 oz bottle and the 2 oz bottle and see if the results switch. it may just be the tips and if so the question is which tip gives the most accurate results of the two...

Old R-871 .75 ounce bottle of reagent

I have a Taylor K-2006 test kit. I have a bottle nearly empty of some 2 year old .75 oz R-871 Reagent. I tested it against a 2 ounce bottle of R-871 Reagent I purchased from TF Testkits back in November. While slamming my pool for Algea I decided to see it there was any difference in reagent...

    TA question

Just wondering why the recommended TA for troublefreepool Target is 60-80ppm and the standard is 80-120ppm. Why the large difference. I've always kept mine around 90 to 100 ppm......just trying to understand the chemistry of the difference and effected results... many thanks Lawjohn.

    Cannot get water to clear

Jeffsp. Mknauss guidance is what needs to be done. I had your problem about 10 days ago and I followed the SLAM instructions and 4 days later my water is crystal clear with no combined chlorine either. John

CC measurement after Slamming my pool

Jim thanks. Another quick question. If when you are doing the CC test and it goes clear, then about 4 seconds give or take it goes back to a very light pink, then it needs an additional drop to get the true CC reading. Correct? John

CC measurement after Slamming my pool

I hope someone experienced can assist me. My Taylor 2006 kit says once the FC measurement is completed then add 5 drops of R003. If the solution turnis pink then add R871 counting the drops until the solution becomes clear. Does the 5 drops of R003 apply equally if the FC is say 16 as it would...

Does Ployquat raise the CYA level in my swimming pool?

Newdude not a problem. BTW I only use a pool store for chlorine. In Florida Home Depot and Walmart carry everything else needed for routine maintenance at a much lower cost. Regents from Troublefreepool' sister sight.

Does Ployquat raise the CYA level in my swimming pool?

Zea3. Thank you for the reply. I won't comment on the other one as the writer has no background in knowing how much I really know and the experience I have plus the contacts at a professional level. The reason for the polyquat was as a result from chem geak's thread with another person I...

Does Ployquat raise the CYA level in my swimming pool?

Hi all. I hope someone with knowledge of my question can help. I have green algae in my new resurfaced pool and I would like not having to slam my pool. In addition to my question above I noticed that my startup polyquat dose lowered my chlorine from 3 ppm to .5 ppm when I measured the results...

    Total dissolved solids

A big thank you for the information from both of you, lawjohn

    Total dissolved solids

In the manual it says TDS in most pools is less than 2000 having little effect on water balance and is not included on the LSI Wheel. The LSI calculator wheel is set for the following readings. Total Alkalinity, calcium hardness, ph, and water temperature to then give a LSI reading. If you do...

    Total dissolved solids

I've followed this forum and used the forum's recommendations as well as the pool math app since about 2013 and have noticed that there is not a lot of comments about total desolved solids.....Frankly I've ignored them too, but I wonder why Lowery Consulting includes them in their LSI...

    Pool Math calculations

Forgot to mention in my reply post that I'm trying to understand how the calculations take in account the other recommendations given. I know what the target numbers are to keep my pool within the target numbers..... it's a question of how the Pool Math calculator was designed to provide the...

    Pool Math calculations

The reason for the question is that TA is raised or lowered linearly and pH is raised or lowered logarithmic. The pool math says on the TA that raising the TA will slightly raise the pH.....therefore the question on how the calculations in my question is accounted for or not at all.
  20. L

    Pool Math calculations

I hope someone knows this answer....An example: suppose your pH is 7.8 and your TA is 70. Now you want to lower your pH to 7.4 and raise your TA to 90. Does the Pool Math calculation for each (pH and TA) take in account the other one in recommending how much chemical to lower the pH and raise...

    FC cloudy test

I'm trying to learn why in the past few days my test is cloudy with the 870 powder and the 871 Regent....the pool is crystal clear with no cloudiness at all. I know that the TF 100 instructions say the test is still valid. I'm just trying to understand what has caused the test to now be cloudy...
