easy on easy off winter cover

Thank you. Pipes and all are below freeze level or indoors. Am just discussing couple inches on the surface over a period of a few days. Solar bubble won't stop that?

Is it not true that some bubble "solar" covers will save enough degrees to prevent freezing?

Hi. Don't close pool and don't cover pool cuz live in Seattle. But... From time to time a few days of freezing weather and the pool is iced. Usually just ignore it but am thinking would like to put on a cover to prevent the icing. Should be easy on easy off since I am old and likely put on...

    when to read pH

So called 'em. Said if temp water and temp probe grossly different strange things happen. So if water 40 and probe 68, put probe in water and let sit for couple three minutes. So I did that and voila. Colorimetric was 7.6 with old eyeballs and pH meter was 7.61. So issue solved. Gotta let 'em...

    when to read pH

again, if I keep stirring for a half minute or a minute the temp rises, then stops, from about 7.3 to about 7.9; and the 7.9 is dead on with the old calorimetric method so I think the final is accurate we are talking 40degree water with jar and probe at room temp; maybe the glass, water, probe...

    when to read pH

Been a while but with same pool same equipment same chlorine method not lots to discuss but now Have Apera pH meter. Is cool, more fun than color matching with 82 year old eyeballs but... Water is cold, like 45. When I first put the meter in I might see 7.3. After sloshing around for a minute...

washing soda but pH no go up?

Hi. True. Out here goes like this. Air temp and water temp say 40. Then is 24-48 hrs goes to air temp and water temp 30. At water temp 30 CSI is below -.3. But this only lasts a few days and as pointed out above, < -0.3 for a few days can just be ignored. And turn the eyeballs up but if...

today temp 41 and pH up to 7.8 with a gallon of bleach and CSI up to -0.09 what was that line about mole hill into mountain? next time will be sure eyeballs are aimed up and then go do something else what about the two queries should I have some borax in there why pool math up top indicated .3...

washing soda but pH no go up?

Why pH? Temp was 31 and CSI -.31. I thought easy way to fix CSI was by adjusting pH. But 16oz washing soda did not do much. Now temp is 40 and CSI -0.28 so I guess the issue is gone. And from posts would seem best thing to do with a few days / weeks of cold water and low CSI is ignore it...

washing soda but pH no go up?

strange FC6 pH7.7 TA80 CH375 CYA50 put into PoolMath PoolMath adds Salt1000 Then PoolMath says 16oz will take pH from 7.7 to 8 by the way TA did not change much either, maybe went from 80 to 90 now has warmed up so water temp 39 and whole CSI issue went away

Hi. Been a while. But then follow the rules and not much happens. Anyway. asked before but seeking confirmation (or 81yo brain forgot) In Seattle so do not close. All pipes underground or indoors. Now a cold snap. Pump running but even so ice on the surface. Maybe ½" thick. I should 1)...

    do something about ice?

True 99.9% of the time. Just every two or three winters there is a 3 or 4 day chill and the ice skim forms on the shallow end and I say "what now". I think I will stop thinking on it. Maybe just aim the eyeball on the shallow end up to ripple the surface. Thanks.

    do something about ice?

As for many years? I have no regular ice plan as we do not have regular ice. Maybe every couple / three years. One year I turned on the heat but that costs $$. One year I ran the pump 24/7 but that costs $$. One year I just poked holes in it, doesn't cost much but kinda slippery out there...
