ignore ice on surface?

Hi. Been a while. But then follow the rules and not much happens.
Anyway.

asked before but seeking confirmation (or 81yo brain forgot)

In Seattle so do not close. All pipes underground or indoors. Now a cold snap. Pump running but even so ice on the surface. Maybe ½" thick.

I should
1) do nothing, just wait it out (this was advice before)
2) go round bust it up
3) if not 1 and not 2 your advice here

still is fun to punch holes in it and / or
push big pieces round the pool like icebergs until
I slip and fall in
water temp is 31, would I live long enough to get out?
