Cicada killer wasps below the liner

I've seen more cicadas this year than I've seen in past, and concensquently more cicada killer wasps. But, the solution for keeping them from burrowing under your pool is simple:

Where has all the salt gone?

I snagged a strainer from my kitchen - wife didn't even notice that it was missing!

How to prevent birds from building nests under top rail cap gaps, and stop spiders from building their webs in pool legs?

I've never had problems with bird nests under the rails, but these inflatable snakes do a fantastic job of keeping the grackles off of my top rails.

    Tasting salt...

My salt level is at 3400 ppm and I can taste it, but my wife and kids can't. If you do a search on Google scholar, you'll find that there are a plethora of articles that suggests there are lots of possible reasons for this ranging from age, to salt intake, and even the proteins in your saliva.

Is my liner improperly cut around the skimmer?

I'll start by saying I'm not an expert, but my liner is installed as your new installer recommends. I attached a picture.

Borates newbie! The unspoken secret chemical?!

My experience with borates has been positive. I've been using them for the past two seasons. I have the same size pool as you, and looking back at my logs I'm adding ~40 oz MA every 10 days. I'm also running a fountain 24/7 to combat the 100+ temperatures we're having in San Antonio. I bought...

    Thru wall skimmer

Ditto on what @mikepier said! I've installed a Heyward skimmer on several Intex pools and one Colman and never had a problem,

Please go buy something at Leslie's!

I agree with @Rocknoids. I had my Dolphin e10 repaired last week at Leslie's. It cost me $45 to install two front wheel kits and rear wheel bushings. I was shocked (no pun intended) when they informed me they didn't charge for labor

    Help Pool Water Hot!

A couple of things to keep in mind if you're running a fountain, you're going to lose more water through evaporation and you need to keep an eye on your pH.

    Help Pool Water Hot!

There are a lot of DIY options too. Here's a pic of my homemade fountain. I run at 7A to 7P and it drops my temperature about 6°.

    Eyeball return placement

That's a good question and I'm looking forward to hearing what others have to say. It may depend on what you are trying to achieve. For example, if you are trying to raise pH you may want to point it towards the surface to cause more aeration. But, I think for normal operation you will get a...

    New to SWG

How long ago did you add salt? It can take several days for it to completely dissolve. Also, you'll want to adjust your swg setting based on the amount of FC you measure in the pool, not on the salt concentration.

Fill water Total Alkalinity at 130ppm

This is not a direct answer to the question you asked, but I don't think you should give up on lowering your TA. It really isn't that difficult and it helps tremendously to combat pH swings. I have the same problem with my fill water having the TA at a 130 ppm. I have followed the Pool Math...

Add a second suction line to an aluminum wall AG pool

Good point - I wouldn't even think of adding a drain without installing the proper inlet nozzle over it. In my experience as an owner of several soft sided pools, it's common for them to have a single suction port, , but I'll look into the two drain requirements. Thanks for the link!

Add a second suction line to an aluminum wall AG pool

I get what you're saying about the cover, but it's not an option in south central Texas. Last week we had five 105° days and the summer is just starting. I have a fountain running most days to keep the water temperature in the upper 80s to low 90s. I don't think your suction hose idea would be...

Add a second suction line to an aluminum wall AG pool

Thanks for your thoughts @VinnyinNJ! I had not considered using a hole saw to make the hole. I was thinking that a knockout punch might be the best way to make a hole in the pool wall, but I was hoping to hear about experiences other have had adding jets or returns in their pools before I...

Add a second suction line to an aluminum wall AG pool

Hi everyone! I've been a member of TFP for many years and have found it to be a great source of inspiration and advice. So before posting my question I want to thank everyone for all the helpful information I found over the years. In the past 15 years, we've had various soft side wall pools...

    Intex CS8110 Salt sensor question

My unit is only 5 months old and is already indicating "low salt." I tried all the maintenance steps - verified the salt level was adequate and cleaned the cell with vinegar. The unit is still under warranty so I was planning to call Intex tomorrow, but after reading this thread I flipped the...
