    Polaris Freedom?

Our Polaris 9550 gave me the dreaded Err 02 when we pulled it out last week to drop in the pool after opening, so I've been waiting for the Polaris Freedom to be on sale again. It's on sale at Leslie's for 10% off, $1259, and qualifies for the $50 rebate because this is Leslie's "Polaris Days"...

    Leak at top of pump

Thank you for the insight. I do have a plumber's wrench I think might fit, I will try to take it apart this weekend and examine the threads on the bushing adapter. I may have messed up the existing teflon tape by turning it the wrong way initially.

    Leak at top of pump

Opened the pool last week and there's a small leak at the top of my Hayward pump. I turned the white fitting at the top clockwise and that was actually loosening it (I think, it got much worse when I did that) so I switched to clockwise and that slowed the leak back down but it still leaks...

    New pump needed

I'm looking at a Hayward Tristar VS as a replacement. I think I could DIY this (Pool Co's are booked waaaay out and we want to swim!) but the electrical component has me hesitating. How do I tell what voltage wiring I have into my current pump to make sure I match the voltage settings needed to...

    New pump needed

Need advice on replacement pump please. This season has been one thing after another and I'm ready to just throw money at the problem so it just works consistently, but hopefully not too much money. :p Current pump is a 1hp Hayward Super II, hooked to a Pentair Intellichlor and an Intermatic...

Bad breaker or pump or intellichlor?

Thanks. I've called out an electrician because the pump alone caused it to trip again yesterday afternoon when it was dry out so will start with him looking at it before anything else.

Bad breaker or pump or intellichlor?

Thanks for the info, I do think it's a GFCI CB, as there is a little yellow test button on it, and it was installed in 2014 when we had the whole panel all redone. It has been raining cats and dogs here for the last week so moisture is a possibility. Saturday morning when I came out to find it...

Bad breaker or pump or intellichlor?

Well that's annoying, since we had an electrician out to redo this whole panel and update everything in 2014. I thought the intellichlor and pump being on the same circuit was purposeful since the SWG shouldn't run when the pump is off. ETA: I actually don't know if they are technically the same...

FINALLY: Pool Renno Ongoing -- Questions for All

Strongly recommend the salt system! We have two little kids and it's been a life-saver when we don't have time to do a lot with our pool. We renovated our 40-something year old pool about 5 years ago. We wanted to add a beach entry or sun shelf in our existing pool footprint, or incorporate a...

Bad breaker or pump or intellichlor?

Hi all - pool co pulled the cover Friday and added chems and fired up the equipment. Within 10 minutes the pump switched off and they told me the breaker in our panel had gone bad so I needed to replace. I went out and fiddled with it after they left and ended up unplugging the intellichlor and...

    What is this mystery part?

Thanks, everyone! Great options here. I will put these options to my head vacuum-er in charge (DH) and let him pick which will suit his needs best. Hi Patrick! Hope you are well! We just got a new robot last week, went "naked" last year with just the manual vac last year after our old robot...

    What is this mystery part?

This should work great! I tried looking for skimmer port adapters online but with no clue what I was searching for I was coming up with too many options and no idea what to narrow it down to. Thank you so much for the link.

    What is this mystery part?

Hi all, I use these 4' sections of hose to hook a manual vac head to my skimmer port (with a leaf catcher in between) as they came with my pool and have worked. I believe the sections of hose actually were from a suction cleaner of some sort, maybe a Kreepy Krawly, long since buried and gone...

    Exterminating for Spiders around Pool

I am so regretting opening this thread. I've got the heebie-jeebies now! I thought my mama wolf spider who likes to swim with me was bad when I tried to help her out of the water... baby spider explosion! But more than can fill the skimmer? Gah! We have had at least a half dozen black widows...

    String lights!

Did you get your lights up? I'm thinking ahead to spring and would love to add some globe lights to our (uncovered) pergola.

    Polaris 9300xi wheels breaking off

Update - third summer with our Polaris 9300. First year it was fine - a really great cleaner, IMHO - but second year one wheel broke off and took 5 weeks to repair at the service center but cost was covered by warranty or Polaris, third year, we're now on our second wheel break this summer! So...

    Another pool north of Dallas

Move! Just kidding ... I've been absent from TFP for much of the summer and just came back to beg for help on MY ongoing PB issues, too, and saw your updates. So, so, so sorry to hear you are still having problems. For you and me both, I see that we have a few options. 1. Let original PBs keep...

    OKC renovation - forty-year facelift

Not sure if I should start a new thread in pumping station or keep this here with my reno thread. Had a different PB out this week to measure for a winter cover (another thing that our PB ditched us on), and asked him to look at our shallow end skimmer while he was here. We'd thought it was...

    Pergola addition

Coming back to update on our pergola ... finally done! We ended up cutting the decorative rafters, staining all the pieces, and spray painting all the bolts to an oil-rubbed bronze finish. Then, we had a crew come and assemble/attach to our concrete deck and fix our Stonehenge-like attempt. Much...

    OKC renovation - forty-year facelift

And done, in less than 6 hrs. Wish I'd found these guys four months ago! Technically, it's about 99% done, because I didn't order enough wood to finish the post base wraps to cover the metal brackets, but DH and I can finish those out ourselves with little trouble.

    OKC renovation - forty-year facelift

These guys are fast! Have the framework of the first section up, and getting close on the second. Trying to wait a decent interval to go out and take more pics so they don't think I'm micromanaging them, but I'm just so freaking excited! 20140908_095227

    OKC renovation - forty-year facelift

Reviving this zombie thread for an update ... making a bit of headway after three months of zilch. Our PB, like so many others, has evaporated. He hasn't returned to our job site in about 4 months, and has never finished our project. We've been able to use the pool all summer at least, but we...
