When to drain water during heavy rain?

Yes, in ground pool. We live 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, so yes, common occurance. We don't get a hurricane every year, but usually a tropical storm or depression along with a few bad rain storms. I have no idea about the overflow, but I will be asking. I have no idea if there is...

When to drain water during heavy rain?

Ok, so keep the water level normal and dump as needed? My husband let out a little bit about an hour ago. It is still a little higher than mid skimmer. We will keep an eye on it. We are on the west side of the state, so our rain will not be quite as bad as the east side.

When to drain water during heavy rain?

So, we live in LA and are about to get slammed with a tropical storm. We've had a ton of rain yesterday and today already, and our water line is about 2" from the inside top of the skimmer. We have a vinyl pool, 3 wks in, deck is not finished yet. Our pool chemistry is spot on finally except...

    Umbrella sleeves in tanning ledge

I got this on amazon a couple of months ago when they had a 50% off code on it. It was $20, so I couldn't pass it up. It is working out great on our patio table, and I plan on getting one or two for the deck. It has a 1.5" pole...

CYA- the black do that is supposed to disappear...

So, We got our chlorine up, ph is coming down, I "think". It looks closer to the 7.8, but kind of hard to tell. TA still at 180 (how do I bring that down?) Just added more MA and will test again later. We have had our pump and SWG going 24/7 to get the chlorine up b/c it was almost 0. Could...

Latham Black Granite or Gold Pebble

I can't give any advice about the black, but those were our concerns as well. We ended up using the Latham gold pebble with no border and love it! You can see my pics at the end of this thread. Two are visible by clicking the links in that post. It's gorgeous! Vinyl Liner Pattern Roundup...

    Need help with water chemistry!

The pool math calc is telling me 175oz of bleach or 12oz of Triclor. Does that sound about right? Which is better? And 498oz of liquid stabilizer?? 192oz by weight? that seems like a lot. Is that correct? Should I do liquid or solid?

    Need help with water chemistry!

    1. How do I get the cya up? I read in the Pool Math to add a certain amount of stabilizer, but what is this stabilizer and where do we get it? 2. How much bleach? just regular household bleach? anything in particular? I tried to talk the husband into increasing the swg size and pump, but...

    Need help with water chemistry!

So, our pool is in, PB set up the swg and pump timer to come on for 8hrs a day. We just did our first test, and the chlorine is not even measuring on the test. We are using the TF-100 and Taylor salt water test. Here's the results. We did add water yesterday b/c it was low, but shouldn't it be...

    Gotcha....heres a bill!!!

I called our water company, and they told me what the cost per 1,000 gallon is so I would know what to expect. We are not on city sewer, just water. Ours is $5.20/1,000 gallons, so should be around $140 added to our normal monthly cost. Unfortunately, we've been "practicing" for that bill the...

Obtaining quotes in the fall/winter-lower bids?

The PB'ers in our area do not do that. Why? Because they literally are booked for the entire year by May/June. Two different ones told us they were currently installing pools they had booked back in September and August of 2017. They do not need the sales insentive to book clients. However, we...

Ok, doing that, I came up with $.09505/kwh. Of course, this was August 2017 b/c for some reason, all other energy bills have disappeared...lol. I guess my husband may have switched to paperless billing.

New build Pool pump advice...is it good enough?

Thank you! that is really helpful!! Saving this! - - - Updated - - - So, from my quick math calculations based on your chart, *IF* the cost difference is only $500, I would recoup that savings in a year's time. Two, if it's $1,000. Correct? What's the general life of a pump?

New build Pool pump advice...is it good enough?

I just realized I didn't mention above that we will have a heat pump as well. I'm sure that should have been disclosed. Sorry! We live in Louisiana, and it is hot or warm most of the time. We plan on using it just to extend our swim season, although, with 70 and 80 temps during the winter much...

New build Pool pump advice...is it good enough?

Yeah, we aren't interested in another few $1,000 more! LOL! We are not interested in the bells and whistles of automation right now. We just want to make sure we have an efficient set up. Is the cost of the IC60 and Superflo VS 1,000's more??? That might be a deal breaker.

New build Pool pump advice...is it good enough?

What is the cost difference between the single and vs? I honestly don't know why he wants to stick to single speed. We don't really know much about it except for what we have read here and then going back and forth with the lady in the office at the pool place. - - - Updated - - - Also...

New build Pool pump advice...is it good enough?

We chose the Pentair Prowler robot cleaner. We definitely wanted robot, and since we were going with 2 other Pentair products, it extended our warranty to 3yrs for all three, so we chose the Prowler over the other brands.
