    Maintaining

I've completed my SLAM and my pool numbers are pretty much where I want them. The pool is clear and I'm super happy! So, what now? Is there a rule of thumb for maintaining my prescribed level of FC? Should I adding a little bleach every day....a moderate amount every couple days? Or - do I...

    Increasing TA

According to PoolMath, I need about 9lbs of baking soda to increase my 27k pool TA by 20 points. Does that sound right? Where can I get baking soda in that amount? A big box store? Any specific method to adding it? Or the standard: dump it into the deep end of the pool?

First "Real" Test of the Season #'s - Cloudy Pool

So here's my first full test after having to order some refill reagents: FC: 4.0 pH: 7.8 TA: 50 CH: 110 CYA: ~55 My pool was a green monster when I opened it...we had a bunch of leaves and stuff leftover on the bottom because we closed SUPER late and couldn't get everything out. The pool...

    Handy Chart for Adjusting?

I was curious if there was a reference chart for what to add in order to adjust certain levels? Like....increase pH - do this; decrease pH - do this. There are a couple around the interwebs, but I was curious if there was a TFP-approved visual aid. Thanks!

    Out of R-0013 - Strips?

I tried to give my pool water the first test of the season, but the first test I went to do (CYA) I discovered I was out of the R-0013 reagent! How frustrating. I went around to the local pool shops and Wal-mart to see if they had any refill reagent, but no luck. The best I could find was...

    Return Eyelet Angle/Direction

It's a 27,000g kidney/freeform with two returns, one on the shallow end and one on the deep end. I just opened the pool and pointed the eyelets downward, thinking it would allow for more circulation at the bottom of the pool. However, it doesn't seem like I've got as much circulation on the...

First Open - OUt of Reach Skimmer Plug?

Almost a year into ownership of my pool - the first opening. We had it professionally closed last year, and I'm going to open it myself. However, I've run into an issue where the plug at the bottom of the skimmer is out of reach. I'd venture to say it's about 4-6" past the length of my arm...

    Pump Timer - Too Easy?

I inherited a pool when I bought my house....got a quick rundown from the previous owner, but nothing in-depth. My pump is plugged directly into an in-ground outlet with an on/off switch. It's been running 24/7 since I moved in and I'm pretty sure that's how it ran previous to me taking over...

New Owner - Shopping for robotic pool cleaner

I'm a brand new home/pool owner and trying to wrangle this new 27,000g friend in my back yard. We let things get out of whack (just moving in / not many pool supplies left for us / too busy to stay on top of it) and had some algae growth. We're getting the chemistry back to where it needs to...
