Liquid Chlorine Cost Increase @ Home Depot

Quitting manual dosing at the end of this season for good! Home Depot has raised the price of chlorine to $30 per 4 pack. $225/mo in chlorine is too much for me to endure. Will be switching to SWG.

DIY Exposed Pipe Outdoor Shower Plans?

Mine is simply a leftover replacement shower head threaded onto painted pvc to blend into my pergola column. I fitted a pvc male garden hose thread end at the floor. A short piece of garden hose with a female end at both ends screws into garden hose spigot 10’ away. I lay 50’ of coiled hose out...

Finding strange things in the pool

Pulled a bat from the skimmer a few days ago. Shame too! We have quite the mosquito hatch this year.

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Same here with my local HEB. I was giving them $100/mo business in bleach sales. Now they wanna pick my pocket for the same price with lower concentration bleach? I’ll be moving on to either homedepot HDx or Walmart pool solutions @10%. I’ve always asked businesses the same question, would you...

    Folds in the Lining

If they're not bothering you, leave em. I installed my pool last year, got a bunch of wrinkles and don't really care. It reminds of the ocean sandy floor :D.

    Echo weed eater keeps stalling

Don't toss it without trying some simple cleaning of the carb. It's not rocket science, taking off a 6oz carb, unscrewing a few screws and blowing some brake cleaner thru the ports/jets. Just be careful if it has rubber diaphragms, don't tear them whilst disassembly.

    Leslie’s: threat or menace?

Just checked my receipt and I paid $10.98+tax=$11.98 for the two gallon/box same from HD just last week. They keep a pallet full outside behind the nursery section here in central south TXThe best part about having a 22,000 gallon pool is there's little measuring involved. When my ph hits 7.8...

    Dang cold fronts

I don't ever close down my hot tub. Even on warm summer nights in South Texas, it's nice to sit in the tub with the jets blowing, since my body says the 85 degree pool is too cold at night!

Best 8' - 16' pool pole on market?

I purchased the Home Depot telescoping 16' two section pole for $22 this past week. So far it's holding up great using it fully extended in my 30' AGP.

Cut a hole for an inlet - now it's dripping. What should I do?

Drain the pool down below the inlet or plug the inlet, seal The drip with 100% silicone, let it set, usually 30 mins, refill. This will only work on small drips, not to hold water back.

    Above Ground Pool Bonding Question

This is exactly the way I bonded my 30' pool last week! I used self tapping screws as short as I could find, I think 1" long and screwed them directly through the pool wall at the lowest point so the tip would only penetrate into the 8" of sand cove I'd build up inside the pool. The other...

Cooling our pools for those in the deep South and in direct sun

I had luck cooling my pool by just running my pump at night, and letting the water set during the day.

Question for soft side pool owners "supports under legs"

The plastic feet WILL break without any solid structure under them. The metal pole will punch thru like a hot knife through butter. Jack up the T rails a few at a time and only a few inches each time until you can level them out.

Question on bonding pool with resin bottom and top rail, but metal uprights and wall.

My plan is to bond directly to the wall under the cove area with a self taping screw covered with gorilla tape. The 6-8" high cove required by my pool manufacturer should insure the liner NEVER comes into contact with the screw head.

    I hate Weeds!

I had good luck with the basic patches included with Intex pools in the past. Lightly scrub around the area to be patched. Cut a small piece of patch vinyl, larger than the hole. Apply glue to the patch, fold it over onto itself and dive underwater. Don't unfold until the very last minute under...

Want pool but scared of leveling process!!!

I'm using a 4' level on a 2x4, and so far my 30'x54" install is going fine. If you know how to use a level, it's just as reliable as a transit.

New DIY build semi-inground with Hayward pump/filter questions

And finally up with the base ring this past weekend, level and somewhat circular... The plan is to extend the rock patio and railroad ties, at the same level, into a 2' walk way all the way around the pool. The flagstone is hand laid and grouted by myself and reclaimed from land my great...

New DIY build semi-inground with Hayward pump/filter questions

Started with this... After contacting a few non-local pool installers, and being we're 30+ miles from any major urban area, I decided to just purchase a small backhoe and start on the project myself. I figured I'd be able to use the backhoe for other things around the house here, since I've...

    Need help retrofitting topside panel

May not be the easiest, but if your a diy'er, maybe watch some vids on YouTube on how to fill in fiberglass. Maybe you could patch the hole completely and the cut an exact hole for the new controls. This would be the best way if you're looking for aesthetics.

Jacuzzi, Beach Comber, Arctic Spa ...... So many options

I got mine for free from my in-laws. It's a 1997 Jacuzzi spa. I've put about $1,500 into so far, since 2013. Heats the water, blows from the jets, air blower works great, lights work, seats six, fiberglass has always been covered and is in great condition, can't ask for more from a 20yo spa with...

HydroQuip cs500 leaking when pump is running.

Just yesterday, I was hunting a leak on my 20 yo jacuzzi tub with the old style self aligning pump unions. I had a small leak on the top union, discharge side, leaking down onto my new pump and motor, causing the breaker to trip. I fiddled around with thread tape, vasoline, etc. Finally realized...

In ground pool liners for replacement above ground pool liner??

Not necessarily custom, just not blue! :D We are looking at replacing the Intex with a larger round AGP (too many options on brands, so we're not sure which one yet). Ideally, I want to customize most everything about the next pool prior to installation, including pump, coving, rail tops...

In ground pool liners for replacement above ground pool liner??

With the limited selection of above ground liners and colors, is there any reason NOT to use an in-ground liner in an above ground pool, considering beaded j-hook should be the same, correct? The reason I'm asking, we're looking to upgrade our current 18' Intex to something in the 28'-33' range...

    Weighing down A-Frame ladder

Just a quick read on the brochure since I'm not familiar with your ladder, says it's supposed to fill with water to hold itself down. Are you sure it's filling completely with water? Trapped air inside may be causing it to float. Maybe try to completely submerge the ladder in the pool and rotate...

    Weighing down A-Frame ladder

My last A frame ladder had small cubby at the bottom for sand bags. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how my pool kept growing mold so fast. On a whim, I finally pulled out the ladder and removed the sand bags, LOADED with algae. My wife came up with a simple solution to replace the...

    My Pool Is Very Warm

South Texas AGP here. Mine has consistently stayed in the mid 80's this year. I only run my pump from 12am-9am, circulating the cooler water at night. I let the warm water rest on the upper layers of the pool during the day without disturbing it (unless of course we're swimming). Seems to work...
