Gritty sand on walls after SLAMming a swampy pool

Thanks. I was able to find some previous posts that lined up with what I'm seeing. Sounds like I need to take my ph to the lower end of range and it should help with the removal of the scale.

Gritty sand on walls after SLAMming a swampy pool

Interesting. What type of acid would I use? Not sure if I'll even be able to get a sample as it's really just like hard sand stuck to the liner with no real substance to it.

Gritty sand on walls after SLAMming a swampy pool

I lost my winter cover during a bad wind storm and my pool turned into a swamp over winter. Getting close to the end of my SLAM to bring it back (can finally see bottom on day 8 ) and I noticed a ring around the lower part of the wall (above ground vinyl liner). I have been brushing the wall so...

Cover blew off during wind storm, anything to help before spring?

So we had a really bad wind storm. Not going to complain too much since people have trees laying on their house and stuff. My winter cover blew off and ended up in the pool, and with it, some swamp water and 100 lbs of leaves. The water is borderline ice right now (was frozen this morning)...

    Leak somewhere or normal?

Well, just an update. My hunch was correct. Removed my ladder in preparation for closing and found the leak. A nice little hole under where the ladder was. Guess it was my fault for not having some sort of pad underneath it. Used a patch kit where I applied the glue and stuck it on under the...

    Leak somewhere or normal?

Ah, I have not heard of the bucket test. Then again, never had to try to see if I had a leak before, so makes sense. Thanks for the tip! I will go ahead and try that and hopefully it's just evaporation! Have an above ground pool though and most of these bucket test directions seem to imply you...

    Leak somewhere or normal?

Getting pretty close to closing up my pool for the winter but within the past few weeks I've noticed something odd and troubling. I think I'm losing water at a more rapid pace than usual. Not sure if it's just me or if it's weather related or what. We haven't really used the pool heavily within...

Hayward pump humming and not turning. Want to check capacitor

Well since I hadn't had much luck with my web research I ended up just getting a new pump. Instant fix rather than messing around for a few days and my pool sitting unfiltered. Cost about 270 unfortunately but with limited time on my hands it was worth the price.

Hayward pump humming and not turning. Want to check capacitor

So today my pump was working fine but I wanted to backed my filter. I turned it off to switch to backwash and then when I turned it back on it would only hum and not do anything. From my searching it seems to likely be the capacitor since I can't turn the shaft manually with my fingers. My...

Not even mad I made a swamp

So, long story short, I had a hole in my pool cover and couldn't properly drain off the leaf decayed swamp water from the top. I ended up dumping all the nasty leaves and green water into my nice clean pool while removing the winter cover. I thought to myself, well shoot... That stinks...

    Pool Cleaner Under $100

For a pool that size I would just vacuum manually. Mine is about 15,000 gallons and I vacuum it manually. Not to mention, cheap cleaners usually seem to be low quality and not worthwhile.

First algae bloom, first win, thx to TFP

So this is my second year with the pool and have never had any problems with it. Been using TFP method since day 1 and the water has always been crystal clear. The past few weeks have been lots of thunderstorms and rain. This caused me to neglect the pool a bit and not keep the FC high enough...

How often do most of you add Muriatic Acid?

I haven't had to add any MA since buying my pool last summer. Not sure if that is weird or not. pH always seems to remain the same, within reasonable limits. Haven't had any issues yet about a year later.

Poodle got caught in my skimmer...

Poor little guy got sucked right in.... Just kidding. Just a small sample of the pollen that was in my pool this past weekend. Now we're onto all the little buds falling that puked out the pollen in the first place. Fun time of year to try and keep the pool clean! :pth:
