Well since I hadn't had much luck with my web research I ended up just getting a new pump. Instant fix rather than messing around for a few days and my pool sitting unfiltered. Cost about 270 unfortunately but with limited time on my hands it was worth the price.

So, long story short, I had a hole in my pool cover and couldn't properly drain off the leaf decayed swamp water from the top. I ended up dumping all the nasty leaves and green water into my nice clean pool while removing the winter cover. I thought to myself, well shoot... That stinks...

For a pool that size I would just vacuum manually. Mine is about 15,000 gallons and I vacuum it manually. Not to mention, cheap cleaners usually seem to be low quality and not worthwhile.

I haven't had to add any MA since buying my pool last summer. Not sure if that is weird or not. pH always seems to remain the same, within reasonable limits. Haven't had any issues yet about a year later.
