    Severely neglected pool

My house was a foreclosure, and the bank had drained and boarded up the pool. It was cinderblock construction which ended up buckling. It was garbage at that point. I had to rip it out and go with a new pool construction. The new pool needed to be on virgin ground, so the shape had to be...

    Automation on the cheap?

Another cheap option is to use the wifi switch to energize a contactor/relay coil. If you have room in the box, and are handy with electrical work, that is.

    Automation on the cheap?

I would recommend using a reputable company. I use the Leviton version of this switch around my house, and for my pool light. https://www.amazon.com/Leviton-DW15S-1BZ-Universal-Incandescent-Required/dp/B01MU9SH77 However, even though it's rated for 15A, I believe the limit is around 1/2HP for a...

    Concrete on vinyl liner

Last December, I had my coping re-installed (again) and there are copious amounts of concrete which has hardened to the liner at the bottom of the pool. A good deal of it has settled in the corners of the pool. I've been brushing it away slowly for the last few weeks, but I'm not making a lot of...

    Loop Loc installation into dirt

Very good point. They're still not done with the final grading, so I'll take pics when it's finished. The pool builder gave me the option to do this for me, and put down foam padding as anti-chaffing material around the bond beam/skimmers. However he also wanted a decent amount of money. After...

    Loop Loc installation into dirt

My new pool just completed construction, and I don't have a patio yet. I would like to go ahead and install a loop lock immediately, so I don't waste money on a tarp and water bags. My question is, can I just install the cover with stakes for this year, or do I really need to do the "anchor in...

IG pool rebuild - Long Island

I think they did a pretty good job. Their basic "package" includes a sub panel with timer, receptacle for pump and spare GFCI, and breaker for pool lights, and pool light switch. The SWG unit is on the left.

IG pool rebuild - Long Island

The electricians are coming tomorrow. Is there anything I should request? Anything you guys wish you had at your filter site? I'm probably just going to ask for a spare conduit.

    Fact or Fiction

Can you elaborate on your setup? what's the sq footage of your panels and pool?

IG pool rebuild - Long Island

Thanks for the tip. The pump will be wired up this week. Then I need to let it run for about a week to get the water chemistry right, and check for leaks. I'm thinking about just ordering a loop loc, and stake it into the ground for this season. - - - Updated - - - Our landscape plan is...

New pool - Long Island, New York

take pics of some of the other colors, please. We have similar liner colors, so I'm curious to see if I should upgrade.

    Fact or Fiction

From what I've heard from my pool guy, is that heat pumps have a high profit margin, which is why they get pushed so hard. My parents have a heat pump here on LI, and it's pretty useless. The only time of year it works, you don't really need to heat the pool. Also, our electrical costs are...

New pool - Long Island, New York

Neat color with the lights on. Are those white LEDs or the multi colored? I couldn't justify the cost for the LEDs just yet. Maybe next season :o
