Under Construction - Tomball, TX

The travertine you picked is very similar to our build. Did they put the pavers over the skimmer basket covers? The guys are cutting the pavers now in the correct shape and it looks like that is what they plan to do. Not sure how easy it is to remove them and pull the cover. What did they do with yours.

Also, the covers for the deck drains are covered with travertine and they just cut slits in the pavers for the drain. Very clever and quite custom. The wife is very pleased.

Travis - just curious- what size was your small pool?.

About 9,000 gallons.

I would LOVE to hear a video of the water coming down the spa overfill. It sure looks pretty! I bet it sound nice also!

Kim

Kim, I'll have to take some video. It really does sound nice. Not too loud.

Nice pool ... and airplane :)
We live east of Hooks near Kuykendahl. My flights usually leave KJFK and go out over the water. Currently enjoying some pool time in Africa:

They did the exact same thing with mine. I couldn't figure out why they cut square cutouts in the travertine over the skimmers and was wondering how they would ever make the skimmer covers look right like that. They just cute a square piece of travertine with a 2" hole to put your fingers through to grab it for the cover. Looks really slick. My drains are the same as yours They just cut slits in the pavers. Maybe we have the same builder. Or paver sub.

Kim, you're house has a natural body of water. You win. And the plane def isn't mine. I just get to fly it. If that was my plane my pool would be a little more extravagant!

It started small. I remember flying into Hooks in a light twin many years ago. I flew RJ's for 7 years and went to a major 5 years ago.
Probably the wrong forum to talk airplanes here :)

I noticed that your signature specifies a Stenner pump. I've been planning to do the same thing but the whole idea was foreign to our PB. I did get an oversized equipment pad. We have a Rainbow chlorinator that was used during startup, but we currently drag the bottles to the pool to add chlorine. I'm interested to read about your Stenner experience once it's up and running.

Also, for Houstonians reading this...Napco (2830 Spring Cypress Rd, Spring TX) sells 10% liquid chlorine for $1.68/gallon. I haven't been able to find a better deal in the area.

Here are a few more pics. It's coming along nicely.

Really happy with the color bubblers.

That's a lot of bleach!

These 5 gallon containers I found for transporting bleach are great. The filler nozzle at Napco fits them perfectly. $2 each. They are food grade containers that used to have food coloring in them I think. If you're in Houston and want to know where to get these let me know.

Installed this FlowVis check valve which I love. Can see how many GPM the VS pump is putting out at various speeds.

This side fence and the other will soon be lined with very tall bamboo!

Appel, the Stenner install wasn't bad at all. Particularly if you have the rainbow chlorinator. Actually it's very easy. The hard part for me was wiring into my Hayward OmniLogic. I had to move one of the relays the PB installed and install a new one for the Stenner pump. The worst part was my poor planning and therefore multiple trips to the hardware store. One trip for zip ties, one for knockout strain relief, another for wire, another for the breaker, another for wiring pigtail, etc. I'll try to take some pics and post.

Here are a couple of pics of the Stenner system.

Plumbing it in with the rainbow chlorinator is a 5 minute job. Take the top plug out and put the injector in. Done. Wiring it into an automation system isn't too hard either. Love it now. I calibrated the pump at 1.93 oz per minute. In the morning I test the FC and go into the OmniLogic and set a countdown timer for the minutes I need after using Pool Math. Once I get a feel for how many minutes I'm running it per day I'm going to put it on a schedule. Right now I'm happy to test and manually run the pump for however long I need. I've heard people caution about the way I've plumbed it into the chlorinator. I'm the only one maintaining the equipment so I'm not worried about someone putting pucks in there while I've got the Stenner hooked up. I saw in another thread where someone suggested putting a length of PVC inside the chlorinator so pucks wouldn't fit.

As for the automation part, I really wish there was a way for me to set a max runtime so that no one could turn the Stenner on and have it run for 24 hours and dump all the bleach in the pool. Currently OmniLogic won't let me do that with a pump configured as an accessory.

Sitting next to the Stenner you see is another Stenner that's part of the Sense & Dispense system and will be set up to dose MA.

Love the Stenner setup you have.
That's next on my list. Unfortunately I am maxed out on 120V relays in my Pentair panel.
So I either have to add a slave panel just to drive the Stenner or get creative with an extra breaker in my subpanel and control it with the extra 12V light circuit which could trigger an external 120V relay. I need to put some thought into that.
I guess if I spring for the slave panel I can use it to trigger the transformers for LED Landscape lighting. I originally was going to run that off it's own independent panel.

A maxxed out Intellitouch i9+3
1 for Filter pump
1 for cleaner booster
2 for waterfall pumps
3 for swimjet pumps
1 for SPA Blower
1 for Heater

What I do have is the i5x Expansion Center personality board that was originally in the panel.
So that will allow the main Load Center to control an additional 5 relays.

I am thinking I need to hire you to come add my chlorine tank when I get to that point! That looks so professional!!!!!!!!!! Great Job!

I do! I have it! Hopefully when I get to that point I can figure it out. Gotta wait out my PB's ownership of my pool and its chemistry for a while longer. . .
