How to Read Hayward Serial Numbers and Date Codes
The product ID tag and serial number can tell you the month and year it was manufactured, and for the Aquarite/Goldline SWCG cells the length of the warranty. The format has changed a bit through the years and below are the different formats Hayward has used.
Pumps, Filters, Cleaners, Heaters, Heat Pumps, some Incandescent Lighting and Accessories
Hayward's serial numbers for all products, with the exception of some cleaners, controls, heat pumps and electronic chlorinators, are 17 digits long and begin with the numbers '21'. Often these numbers appear on product labels with spaces or parentheses.[1]
Model number is found on the dataplate located on the bottom right of the electrical cover on Hayward Heat Pro units.[2]
On Summit style Heat Pumps the data plate is located on the left side of the base pan
Controls, Electronic Chlorination, ColorLogic Lighting
Serial numbers for Controls, Electronic Chlorination, and ColorLogic Lighting typically follow a format like this: 1M12345-1234567 (all numbers with the exception of the letter in the second position).
For products such as Aqua Rite, the serial number can be found inside the door of the control
Heat Pumps, Heaters, Filters, Pumps August 2015 - Present
Format is 2112-1911-003216017.[3] In this example, manufacturing date is November 2019.
- The first two numbers (21)are common to all ID tags
- The 3rd - 4th number is the plant of manufacture
- 10 = Canada
- 11 = Pomona, CA
- 12 = Clemmons, NC
- 13 = Nashville, TN
- The 5th % 6th number will be the year & the 7th & 8th is the month
- 1911 = November 2019
- 1912 = December 2019
Heat Pumps, Heaters, Filters, Pumps March 2010 - July 2015
Format is (21) 12-1004-000002006.[4] In this example, manufacturing date is March of 2010.
- The first two numbers (21)are common to all ID tags
- The 3rd - 4th number is the plant of manufacture
- 10 = Canada
- 11 = Pomona, CA
- 12 = Clemmons, NC
- 13 = Nashville, TN
- The 5th & 6th number will be the year & the 7th & 8th is the month
- 1003 = March 2010
- 1006 = June 2010
Heat Pumps, Heaters, Filters, Pumps February 2004 - February 2010
Format is (21) 120-402-000002006
- The first two numbers (21) are common to all ID tags
- The 3rd - 5th number is the plant of manufacture
- 100 = Canada
- 110 = Pomona, CA
- 120 = Clemmons, NC
- 130 = Nashville, TN
- The 6th -8th number will be the year & month Example:
- 402 = 2004, Feb
- 405 = 2004, May
- 501 = 2005, Jan
- 502 = 2005, Feb
Reading Goldline Serial Numbers August 2011 - Present
Beginning 08-05-2011 the serial number format is 4A20021-104377.[5]
- First Digit = Standard Warranty length
- 4 = 4 Year Warranty
- 3 = 3 Year Warranty
- 1 = 1 Year Warranty
- Second Character = Product Family
- A = Aquarite
- R = remote
- Third & Fourth Digit indicate the year the product was made
- 20 = 2020
- Fifth - seventh digit = day of year manufactured
- 021 = 21st day of 2020
- Digits 8 and on = 123456 = Manufacturing ID
Reading Goldline Serial Numbers November 2001 – July 2011
Beginning 11-01-01 the serial number format is 1R0509-1020020.
- First Digit
- 3 Year Warranty
- 1 = 1 Year Warranty
- Second Character = Product Family
- A = Aquarite
- R = remote
- Third & Fourth Digit indicate the year the product was made
- 05 = 2005
- Fifth & Sixth Digit indicate months of manufacture
- 09= September
- Digits 7 and on = 123456 = Manufacturing ID
