I have an older ZODIAC BARACUDA MX8 pool cleaner that goes for a few feet and then stops. We bought a new hose for it and paid almost $100 for new gear boxes at Leslie's. We just cannot figure the problem out!

I had the same issue. I lost track of how much money I spent on replacing parts. I gave up and went back to the Navigator cleaner. The MX8 went to Goodwill. I tried to give it away and nobody wanted it.
Are the valves set correctly? My equipment needed the main drain valve turned off(12oclock position) & cleaner valve turned on(3oclock position). And are the tire treads in good condition?
